I have a 1998 Craftsman Garden Tractor and would like to get a Bin-Bagger for it.  How do I find one?  If there isn't one available specifically for a 1998 tractor, is there a way to adapt a new one to fit?  Thank you

Have you tried www.searspartsdirect.com?  They have lots of parts, and a super helpful customer service link, if you need assistance in finding the exact part. You just need a model number to do a search.

Generally, Craftsman baggers are backwards compatible. If you know the size of the deck on your tractor, the corresponding size bagger should work. However, to be absolutely sure, call your local store and ask them to check their tractor ML book for the bagger that's compatible with your tractor's manufacturer's model number (the long number on the silver sticker behind the seat on the rear fender).

How large is your tractor's deck and what is the long model number of your tractor?

If it is the 50 inch "fieldcutter", there never was a bagger. Otherwise, check under the hood for a sticker with the bagger model number and you might get lucky on C*aigslist or *bay.

It is a 46" deck and the model # is 917.273030. We have tried the last couple of years to find a bin bagger for this model. I am on a mission this year. Thank you!

I'll have to check the "pamphlets" in the store for 46 inch deck baggers.

The Internet site is TOO LARGE to search.

Did you know your model tractor is now: two different kinds of clothing?

The good news is the tractor does show up in parts direct, in excrutiatingly minute detail - with no list of accessories.

Do you have any preference between hard or soft baggers and 2 or 3 bins?

The tractor is a 1998, I may have written the wrong number down, but was pretty sure it was a 917.273030. We are interested in a 3 bin, soft bagger. I have heard from a couple of people that the bagger's are interchangable, but we are not ready to just a buy a new bagger in the hopes that it is. I appreciate all your help. We have not had good luck with the sales peopel in the sears stores in our area (1-2 hours away from us). Thank you!

There is a 3 bin hard bagger available through parts, item 24990 for $469. The current models will not work with this unit. Below is the link to parts direct for this bagger.

Yeh...

Bob fought through the 6 inch thick catalog (Internet) and got the info!

You are AWESOME BobB...

I'll still look for that Tractor Brochure, though.

It'll be faster than using a terminal.

I tried there too but couldn't find it either. I ended up calling the vendor.

We appreciate all the information and help on this.  I checked out the hard bagger, but we are really interested in a soft bagger.  Is there a different number for that?  Again, thanks for all the research and information.
