Best thing you can do is take any suggestion anyone might give here... and go to your local Sears.  Talk to a Lawn & Garden associate.

I want to say "specialist" here because we have some salespeople in our department that know next-to-nothing about the lawn equipment and still manage to sell it.  Ugh.  Sorry about the short rant!

I hesitate to say this, but... find out which salespeople have actually been doing it for a while!  They could probably walk you through a tractor, inside and out.  Tell/teach you things you never would have thought of or had misconceptions on.

Happy hunting!

And, there's also the Ultimate Tractor Experience section of the Sears.com Lawn & Garden website, that helps a lot with at least getting in the right ball park of a tractor choice.

I took the "experience" and it came up with two tractors that would be good for me.

And, when I selected the "California" option, BAM, there was the tractor I already owned.

That's a pretty good program, right there.

One of the first set of accessories I'd recommend for any new tractor is a front bumper and a nice Craftsman steel trailer to haul thing around the yard and to "pickup" mail with.

What an awesome gift, dellta611!  Does he have any idea you are thinking about this present?

Let us know what you end up getting!  And, how the surprise goes!

Wrap it up in wrapping paper in the garage. Give him some ****** present like socks or a tie and hide the keys or manual or w/e it is in with it. Then go out and sit on wearing the somethign sexy.  He will be so happy he won't know what to hug first. (You or the mower)

Will be a xmas he will never forget

Present him with the Craftsman plastic resin tractor ornament, with the tractor's keys tied to the tractor ornament!

That should make him pretty happy.

And, don't forget to get a 2 or 5 gallon can of gas for him to "test" the tractor out, on Christmas day...

Maybe a little red bow on the resin Craftsman tractor ornament, with a BIG red bow on the actual Tractor (out in the garage)?
