Most Excellent Adventure

I purchased a Magellan RoadMate 1412 GPS Navigation System w/ 4.3 in. with Touchscreen Display for my directionally impaired wife for Christmas. Yes, she liked it, and promptly gave it a name based on the female voice prompts. Boy Toy goes over well with wife! I did not have time to read the sixty plus... read full review »

Terrible System Overall

I purchased this system because i thought magellan was a quality brand with good gps products. How wrong i was!! I took it out of the box charged it and set it up, thinking how much work this would save me. When i started using it it took 10 minutes sometimes to locate satellites and place me on the... read full review »

Love it!! no matter how hard I try to confuse it, it still can tell me where I am. No more getting lost for me, or stopping in dangerous areas to ask for directions.

Great bargain

Easy to use. Has worked to perfection. Love the number of Points of Interest already programmed in. Would like it if it was Mac compatible.

Awesome Experience

This GPS shows me the railroads and ocean. It is accurate.

My Wife and I recently moved from Australia to America and, as you can imagine, adjusting to the opposite side of the road while driving was quite the formidable task... which, I'm happy to say we're overcoming... Needless to say we simply don't know our way around - anywhere here. The Magellan RoadMate 1412 GPS Navigation System has proven to be a God - send. I am a tech-head that enjoys technology to it's fullest, while - on the other hand, my Wife finds anything that requires instructions to be off-puting! This is where this particular GPS is great! The ease-of-use and simplicity of the user...

Great GPS for everyday use

I got Magellan RMate 1412 about 6 months ago. I really love it, the interface is really easy to use and navigate. Sometimes I think that I don't need it, but once I leave my neighbourhood and try to navigate or avoide accident/road work, it becomes my best friend. I like the feature where you can locate nearest  bank, post office or a gas station, sometimes is just around the corner. Batterry should last longer.

Good value if you get it on sale

This is my first time using a GPS. I purchased a Magellan because someone I know who has used them stated that Magellan is the best brand, however, they are usually more expensive. Part of the reason why they are the best is because they have been doing this since the 1980's and the government uses Magellan. This unit does everything that I want. I am not convinced that it knows the quickest route. I have tested the recommeded directions with areas that I am familiar with and I know alternate routes that are faster. It is easy to use as long as you know the zip code of your+ destination. If you... read full review »

buy it

My parents bought me this GPS because I am always driving to college games, taking road trips, and going new places. I used to have to use mapquest or the gps on my blackberry, and I fell in LOVE with this gps system. It's easy to use, accurate, and intelligent. You can't beat the price

Good basic gps

Bought this unit for $249 at Sears. I also own a smaller Magellan unit. This unit works well. I used it driving to Toronto from Syracuse NY and it found signals quickly and routed me well. I would recommend this unit to my friends. It does not have bluetooth but you have to pay an extra $100 to get. Returned a Tom Tom XLS before this, it mispronounced names and could not find signals to lock onto. I am a big fan of Magellan, they work well for me.

Good Value & Features

I now have a Garmin and Magellan. The Magellan is generally better than the Garmin for intuitive layout. It is a bit weak in your final destination directions. The search features are good. This was a good value for the features and wide screen.

Megellan 1412

I tested this unit in areas that were familiar to me and it was working great. 2 days later the unit will not power on in or out of the car, with or without the charger. It will be replaced with a different unit.
