I wonder the country of origin of Sears' memoryfoam mattresses.  China is unacceptable.

I would like to know the answer to this question for all mattresses. I am delaying purchasing a mattress until I can find out if any are made in the USA. I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a US product than an import.

Honestly, the odds of finding a "Made in USA" label on a product are pretty bad, because Americans have two mutually exclusive demands: high pay and low prices. If a product is made by someone being paid $15/hour, the price is going to be higher. If a product has a low price, it's being made by someone getting paid significantly less.

There's always lots of talk about being willing to pay more for the "Made in USA" label, but over and over it's been proven to just be talk and nothing more. Power tools, electronics, clothing, the list goes on and on. Americans are simply uninterested in country of origin when the price is low enough.

Hi,

Almost all innerspring mattresses made by Sealy, Serta, Simmons, Stearns & Foster, and Sears O Pedic are made in the USA.

 Thanks.

I could NOT find the Made In labels on the mattresses on the display floor, either.

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments about China and with the comments that most Americans talk a tough made-in-USA game, but when it comes to putting down the money, more times that not, price wins.

I think mattresses are in somewhat of a special catagory, though. There are an astoundingly large number of mattress factories around the US because they are relatively low in labor costs and high in transportation costs. So China looses its advantage in low labor costs and transportation costs eat up any advantage.

I just did some mattress shopping both at Sears and at a local independent dealer and in both cases, most of their offerings came from the same regional manufacturer.

I expected to see some made in Mexico, but that was not my experiance.

Somedays I like to imagine how society woudl be if we didn't sleep. What would you be complaining about right now? Woudl society be 33% more advanced? Would cancer be cured? hotels would be out of business, so would mattress companies.

How much more advanced would we be if everyone just bucked up and put two more manhours into their day? Thats like 13597434050 extra hourts every day. and 566559752 extra man hour days each day and extra 1552218 YEARS every day,

Imagine what we could accomplish if we just got off the couch for 2 hrs.
