Trying to buy a bed from Sears......so many out there....bought a Sealy Meridian II tight top, firm.... but we are finding it too hard...shoulders and hips hurt...so going to trade.  Our small store only has 8 beds to try.  I understand the Sears-o-pedic are actually name brands, but can't find any way to get the brand name equivilant to compare ratings and reviews.

Has anyone bought a Sears-o-pedic Broadway II???  Would like to know how it holds up.  I need it firm for back problems, but soft enough for comfort.  It is made by Simmons...but who knows which Simmons it compares to.

Unless you have any medical reasons your gonna want a pillowtop or a plush, if you get both your going to find its too soft, unless you try it out and find out you like it that soft.

You can always go to mattress stores and test out the beds, they may be called different but the model number should be the same.

Thanks....unfortunately I now live in a small town in northern BC Canada, and stores are many miles away (hense buying thru Sears)  I wish they used the model numbers on web sites...that would help a lot!  I will keep looking...thanks for your input.

Yeah, only other thing I could suggest is testing out friends and families bed. But I would recommend ( and remember we can only give advice cant pick it out for you) against getting a firm if your a side sleeper because your arm will go numb and it will be incredibly uncomfortable

I have been sleeping on an extra-firm Beautyrest for the last eight years, The last year and half I found out that I needed two knee and two hip replacements.  I have been sleeping from side to side, and can't stay on one side too long.  Before my surgeries I intend to buy a new mattress and foundation, does anyone have any suggestions on what type I should buy?  All suggestions are welcomed.  By the way I am a heavy female if that makes a difference.  Thanks.

There's an old myth that firm is good for backs. It comes from the notion that a bed that sags has become "soft." In actuality, a bed that sags is a bed that sags, and that's not good for the back. However, a firm bed isn't very good for the back, either, because it forces the muscles to do just what they'd do on a sagging bed: keep the spine straight. Not to mention the painful pressure points that they cause, which make you toss and turn at night. Generally, a medium firmness is the best option for most people, and especially for people with back issues.

You may also want to investigate the alternative options that Sears offers, such as memory foam or latex, which offer support combined with proper spinal alignment and pressure point reduction for optimal sleep comfort.

We have a 4 inch "topper" that's doing a good job for us.

BlueCrewGuy

You are absolutely right on the nose.  I have been suffering with Serta wyndsor mattress and it sags in the center had it for a year. bought at Conn's will not do anything about it.  It suppose to have 10 year warranty but not honoring it.  want to try memory foam.  My back is really messed up.  Hope this works.

We bought thru Sears so were able to do a trade within 60 days so we were lucky. We ended up buying a "Sears-o-Pedic Broadway 2 with the plush top". We were told it is made by Simmons for Sears (therefore can't be compared exactly to anything at Simmons), but it is a pocket coil (bowling ball bed) and it is SO MUCH BETTER. My back is getting better every night. We have not had it very long yet, but Sears is a good company and hopefully we won't have trouble down the line, but pretty sure they would be good for warrenty. So it your Serta ends up in the spare room and you get another mattress.... try the bowling ball type and check out Sears......Was over 1/2 off for $999. Good Luck!
