I decided in the early 1960's that when I grew up I would have a frig on top/freezer on bottom refrigerator just like my grandparents had. After years of waiting for the right one and months of research, reading dozens of reviews, and comparison shopping, I decided on this model and could not be happier....

You may be highly tempted to buy this beautiful piece of kitchen art but DON'T be sucked in. Beautiful product that cools and freezes as it claims. But the french doors have a flap on the left one and ours hits the right door every time it is closed. That is if it closes. Also the surface of the doors scratches very easily. Not too child friendly. Also, be careful how you open the doors using the handles. If you have any rings on you will have to open it with your fingertips...scratches. The ice maker is present and works well. But do not put any food near the ice maker which is inside the fridge. I had frozen eggs in my fridge.
We have had this refrigerator for nearly nine months. The icemaker was dead on arrival, fixed, and it is dead again. I'm glad we saved the ice cube trays from the old refrigerator to use in the Maytag. It is also loud. It is uncomfortable to work in the kitchen because the machine is noisy, and makes occasional loud grinding noises from time to time. The external handles come off easily unless you seat them with a hammer and a block of wood. The plug-in bottle/beverage can storage is useful, as is the beverage rack next to the ice maker. After struggling with the limited freezer space of a side by side for years, we decided to purchase this refridgerator. We were concerned with some of the reviewers indicating problems, but knew that the features of this refridgerator were perfect for our growing family. We had to wait five weeks for our fridge to be delivered. It arrived in early October. It is now late December and we haven't had a single problem. The bottom drawers hold frozen pizza boxes, even though they looks small in the store. The water/ice dispenser will take cups up to 7" tall which is good enough for us. I too, like...

This refrigerator has everything I could want. We love to keep sodas in the yogurt slots. We use the deli drawer often for big pizza boxes. My kids always use the outdoor ice/water dispenser. We don't have any problems with noises. We love that it holds lots of gallon jugs, as everyone in my family drinks something different. The bottom freezer is easy for the kids to get their own ice cream. We never need to search for room to put anything and we don't waste things because they are hidden out of sight. I had my heart set on a refrigerator with a bottom freezer. We shopped for several months before we decided on this one. It has all of the features that were important to us. 2 gallons of milk conveniently in the door ~ the refrigerator in the top (which is used most) ~ the clear drawers ~ large capacity ~ one shelf is adjustable for taller items ~ plenty of space for everything and the ice maker in the door. We have had this refrigerator for about 9 months now and love it. The fresh food compartment is spacious, and easy to access. We looked for months for a new refrigerator before deciding on the Maytag, and we are glad we did our homework. The french doors make access easy in our small kitchen, and having the freezer on the bottom means we don't have to stoop down to see what is in the fresh food area. We love the lighting inside. It is easy to see what is on hand. We recommend it to all our friends.
This is one of my best purchases I have made. This product works great and the whole family loves it. It is sad that other people are having issues with theirs. I would buy a Maytag product again. I encourage anyone who wants a clean, modern and reliable refrigerator to buy this model. It has great features like the Deli drawer, Beverage chiller and Ice and water dispenser on the door. These all make every day life a little easier.
We have had our refrigerator less than a year and this will be the 3rd time it has stopped working. Except for the fact that we have an additional refrigerator and chest freezer in the basement, we would have lost a freezer full of meat etc............ if it worked it would be a great refrigerator. We own a B&B and cannot have refrigerators not working. Think twice before you buy this appliance!!!!!!
I've got this refrigerator 5 months now and have only two complaints, no crushed ice and not enough storage. I thought the refrigerator and freezer areas would have been larger. I love the milk storage area, keeps the milk really cold just the way I like it. The drawers are large and the slide out baskets in the freezer are great. I've found that the warning beeper when the temperature goes up in the refrigerator is a great idea, somebody can't remember to close the doors right....
All in all I've very happy with my purchase and would recommend it, but only if you can live without crushed ice.
Having had this refrigerator for nearly a year, I can honestly say it has been a godsend. I load this baby right up. My veggies stay crisp, my deli products are fresh longer, and I love the freezer. It's so easy to find items in the freezer and cleaning is a breeze. I only have two modifications to make. I would like to add an crush ice option and an outside surface that is more fingerprint friendly. The smooth glossy finish shows every print! We love this fridge! We are both tall and love having everything at more of an eye level than a standard side by side. The multiple shelves are great too. So many different options to accomodate everything from pitchers to pizza's!! Love the pull out drawer freezer with the baskets. The baskets make it easy to keep the "everyday" items on top. We have not had any problems with the water or ice dispenser either. Overall there isn't anything we would change about this fridge. We've had ours for about 3 months and would buy it all over again!
My wife and I bought this refrigerator to replace a large side by side that was 7 years old. Our old unit had died for the second time, so we went for the Maytag, having seen a commercial extolling the H2O by Maytag. So far everything is working fine, the Maytag is louder when cooling, but not so loud as others we have heard. We chose the black version and are pleased that the fingerprints aren't showing up on this unit compared to other colors and finishes. Durability is OK, we haven't needed any warranty work. Our only fault we find is in the water/ice in the door. Maytag has only one dispenser...

I purchased the refrigerator in February 2006. In April 2007, the refrigerator broke down. This is just two months past the warrenty expiration. It cost me over 300 dollars get the refrigerator fixed. Now, barely two months after the first repair, it has broken down once again.
Needless to say, I am not happy with the situation. I cannot even get anyone to come out to repair it for 7 days. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product.
I can finally see what needs to be thrown out of the refrigerator by everything being at eye level. I shopped round for awhile before comitting myself for the next twenty or so years before I bought this refrigerator, and the price was right. I love it. The freezer is especailly large and the interior of the refrigerator is plenty big for what I need. The ice holder that shoots the ice to the door does take up some space, but that's alright.
