Bought this dishwasher in October 2009. Two electrical problems and now several thousand dollars of damage in my home due to a water hose connection problem. Not only is the product a piece of junk, Maytag's customer service is poorly lacking. I asked after the second electrical issue to remove the appliance and give me my money back, only to be denied. I have lost three days of work and now will need several more for insurance adjuster, home repairs etc. Stay away from this product!!!
It does a MUCH better job of cleaning than the one we replaced; we looked at several dishwashers and noticed all of them have traded space for newer features. The only cons we've noticed are:
we cannot put our 18 inch melamine plates on the top rack (they can't go on the bottom) and that's no good for summer but we can live with it if we have to
You have to be square on the door to open it - our older ones all could be accessed from the side and pulled down.
We could have gotten one with an adjustable top rack but all in all so far seems to be a good value for the price!
Got this dishwasher because of the maytag recall. Thought it would clean better than my other one because it was a little more expensive, but its about equal. Racks make it more difficult to place large glasses and bowls. Wish I could use my old racks in this dishwasher. Also seems to be more noisey than my previous dishwasher. Like the stainless steel interior, but otherwise like my old dishwasher better.
Pro's: VERY quiet
Cons: racks are poorly designed, hold less items than my 8-year old Maytag we replaced. Bowls practically have to lay face down to get clean. This dishwasher leaves food residue inside on the bottom of our glasses and coffee mugs and crud on our silverware. Pre-rinsing(washing) dirty dishes helps, but does not eliminate. Does it with a full or partial load. Someone suggested buying the power-ball soap that costs 3 x as much as cascade gel pack, but there goes my energy savings! THE worst thing about this dishwasher is how difficult it is to get it open. You have to...
read full review »This unit replaced my previous Maytag that was recalled. My previous Maytag replaced my first Maytag that was recalled also (so, yes, I'm on my second recall from Maytag). The first time around, Maytag gave me a free replacement. This time, only a $250 rebate (yet to be received). The unit does a good job cleaning but you have to put up with a couple of petty aggrivations. The upper and lower rack tines on this unit are so short that my dishes won't stand upright for cleaning - resulting in rattling during washing. Over my three Maytags, I've noticed that the dish rack tines have gotten...
read full review »returned a new Kenmore elite as it did not clean the dishes, purchased the Maytag and am sure glad I did, not only is it quiet the dishes and silverware are SPOTLESS!! This is great dishwasher.
Very Impressed. Stainless interior, a multitude of cleaning options and levels.
All in all fairly quiet, a bit loud here and there but over all quiet.
