Was out of town and the family just plain wore out the twelve year old maytag front loading Neptune that we had. My husband went looking here and I went to Sears in California and we compared value by phone and decided on this new Maytag because of the reliability of our old one.

Got home picked it up...

I love Maytag and have used the brand for over 40 years. But my most recnt front loader, the 2006 model is not the best. So now I am afraid of this as well. They came with drawers that go underneath. Not a good idea! The floor shakes and it dances after 2 repairmen came out and said it was balanced.... read full review »

Nice machine

We purchased our Maytag EpicZ in July 2008 and while I love the machine, it is not without it's faults.

The EpicZ washer is great on clothes. It has a number of cycles (including hand-wash and sanitary to clean the drum) which I have found helpful. The biggest bonus is that the washer has a "delay" function. You can set the the cycle to start anywhere from 1 hour to 10 hours from when you load and set it. I have found this extremely helpful, as I'll set a load in the morning and "delay" it to start in 7 or 8 hours. This saves me a ton of time when I come home from work, since my first load is...

This is my third Neptune, and replaced the second one, a Maytag-branded Samsung machine that caught fire. It does OK, but now that Whirlpool owns Maytag, they need to do some work on the computer logic that controls the machine. Many times, it just won't spin because it can't get the load balanced. It just gives up and leaves the clothes sopping wet. The logic in my original US-built Maytag Neptune was flawless, and would just keep trying until it got the clothes spun out. I wish I had not left that machine behind when I moved.

It also takes MUCH longer to do a load and the clothes don't come...
