Has anyone had experience with this GE microwave oven?  I am thinking about this model as a future built-in.  Thanks

Hi miblue-Welcome to MySears!  There may be a few community members who will be able to help with this one.  There are a few reviews on this microwave right here, on the site, too.  All the reviews are quite favorable:

We have a GE Profile Microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator, all of which broke within three years. Service charges are exorbitant, so I highly recommend that you choose another brand.

I purchaed a GE sensor microwave 2.5 years ago - it in mounted above my wall oven unit.  Loved it - functionality is great.  Unfortunately, sensor error renders it scrap!  I have to replace at my own expense.

we bought a new house 4 years ago that came with all new GE Profile appliances.  After 2 years the fridge went out we had it fixed and 6 months later it went out again.  The dishwasher sucks and now the over the range microwave just went out.  The same problem as marcellm a sensor error.  The only thing left is the stove, who knows how long it will last.  I will never get this brand of appliance again.

We had our kitchen remodeled and bought a GE profile microhood. within 3 yrs the motorized vent broke. I was told it would cost more money to fix than to just buy a new one. We still have the microwave, it works but looks terrible. unfortunately all my guests can see the quality of the GE profile

I purchased my GE Advantium 120 about 3 years ago from Sears - service technician says at least 2 of the control boards on top of the unit have burned areas on them.  He asked if there had been an oil spill from the upper cabinet (there wasn't).  He doesn't consider it repairable.

I think the oil escaping from the venting system has caused this problem.  I called GE Warranty Department.  First person I reached acknowledged that there would certainly be oil escaping into the cavity, but the unit was "tested" so it shouldn't be a problem.  Anyone have any knowledge or experience with this?

I had one for 10+ years, it was never a problem and a great little appliance.  I was thinking of putting another one in my new home.....

Why would someone get the 240v vs the 120v if they didn't need to? Are there any difference in the cooking capabilities?

I have the 220v and friend has the 120v; you will be happier with the 220v.

except the cost and the 220v wiring cost.   The 220v cooks faster and better; if you are going for that tecnology is the only was I would do it.

I GOT A  GE JET 120 MICROWAVE ABOUT 30 YEARS AGO AND STILL USING IT WITH ONLY THE DOOR LIGHT  GOING BAD  ..  SO  WHAT IS THE BEST NEXT ONE TO GET..

Same ole story.......GE Profile over the range microwave stopped working, sensor problem. Cost to fix it is the same as buying a brand that will actually last longer than 3 years. Pretty pathetic I spent $500 on a microwave that only lasted 3 years when you can buy a $50 Wal-Mart model that will last for 20 years......I will never buy GE again.

I won't trust GE any more.  The appliances I have bought of theirs just do not hold up -- very cheaply built.  I they they are basically "****" and wouldn't recommend GE to friends, relatives, or even enemies.  This company needs to rebuild their reputation, it is obviously very flawed!
