“Lots of information, but with bugs that do not get fixed quickly”
Both sears.com and mysears.com provide an abundant source of useful product information to help the customers decide on what to buy from Sears. Visiting your local store after doing careful research -- especially when buying an expensive and complex product such as a major appliance -- makes it easier for both the customer and the sales person.
However, the product reviews on the sears.com product pages apparently are frequently being turned off for maintenance and upgrades after midnight. So Sears thoughtfully also posts these reviews on mysears.com. On Sears.com when you click on the read reviews link, and it happens to be working, you get reviews for the brand and model you are looking for on the product page. Unfortunately, reviews on mysears.com, make no reference brand, model number, item number, etc. Therefore the reviews that appear as "Freestanding 30-inch electric range" could refer to a hundred different models. Plus since no brand, model and item number information is listed, when you search for the model you are looking to buy at mysears.com, you only get the message "no results found." This makes doing research very difficult for someone like myself who is looking to buy two major appliances from Sears.
Although I posted a thread entitled Why can't we read the product reviews? on mysears.com on 11/17/09 to inform of the problems and try to get them fixed, so far I have only gotten excuses as to the complexity of upgrading the site, complaints of being underpaid and no time frame for a resolution. Though most responses were polite, so far nothing was done to correct these problems.
You would think that since retailing is very competitive especially in this economic environment -- that Sears would make this a priority -- rather than have customers go to competitors who care enough to have their websites working properly.
Buy the way do not try to use the spell check on mysears.com or you may find your prospective post in an endless loop like I did.
