Charming Explanation of this LArger Than Life Personality

I AM
a fan of clever plots, character lover

Never Make the Same Mistake Twice —

"Never Make the Same Mistake Twice" is the autobiographical account of the life of NeNe Leakes from the hit BravoTv show Real Housewives of Atlanta. Released in August 2009 from Touchstone Books, NeNe did not disappoint her fans. We received a gripping account of the life that has brought her to this LARGER THAN LIFE personality so many fans including myself have come to know and love. She basically opens with exploring the hometown roots that the producers of the show seemed to exploit in carving out her character on the show. Discussing the details of her life as a child growing up in the little town of Athens, GA, far away from the big Atlanta city life. She discusses her struggles of wanting to be something BIG. Always particpating in sports, beauty pagents, and oh DRAMAS AND PLAYS. All in her own way to escape the feelings of wanting to run to the big city. Those highs would only be temporary. As outgoing as she was she lacked the true confidence and empowerment she seeked. Instead it manifested itself in bad decisions that ultimately led to some serious consequences. Becoming an empowered person comes with sacrifice. NeNe sacrificed her childhood and became an adult early trying to understand the dynamics of her mom (and her death) not living with her, her aunt and uncle that raised her, and who was her dad. These dictact who YOU ARE and she explored those questions she had. That very core basic principle bothers her into adulthood. Allowing for her to become a young parent and allow bottom feeders in her life. People that abused her physically and mentally. I recommend this book for any woman especially the young girls. It is a tale of abuse, revelation, reinvention, and empowerment. It shows how you can have a gameplan and although there can be many detours with persistence your dreams can happen. Our younger generation needs to hear that. In this day and age women can go out and achieve anything they want if they believe in themselves. You don't have to be defined by what your "man" has and can do for you while you wait patienetly by enjoying the comforts of his "status". You allow him to have control of you and before you know it you can not see a way out. NeNe outlines in her 20 Ways to avoid Mistakes and work on me, changing the inner you so that you can recognize your "Mr. Right and attract him to you. How you can take advantage of the right opportunities for you. Its a good easy read and I hope you enjoy!

Thanks houdiniphile. I think that all women have a special cross to bear that makes us a very unique creature in nature. Unfortunately many of us have had situations in life that take us from being confident warriors that can positively contribute to society. I am happy to see that NeNe Leakes has put her personal struggle in book form to share with others.

I'm glad that you liked it! I am a big fan of the reality tv show Housewives of Atlanta. For the most part I know that people see her as just some over the top character and I figured there had to be something that fuels that big personality. The book is for everyone not just for those that are fans of the show. I hope to hear from you about your thoughts on the book.

Great review! I will look this one up. Maybe this book can be inserted into Laurel's request in the "share the word" post. But then, I'm not sure that's a good idea. I'm starting to believe that I may have started a runaway engine there that I feel uneasy about... Now, I'm going to not make th......... Thanks!
