I got my TC-P42X1 a week ago and I found it has one very major drawback for antenna users. Each time you scan for channels, it erases what was previously scanned, so if you have peripheral channels in several directions, you either have to rescan each time you rotate your antenna, or just pick the direction...

I bought this television about two weeks ago and I have been impressed ever since. The picture is exception on High Definition 720p and the colors are much richer than any LCD, the viewing angles are nearly perfect with no color shifts and it keeps up with fast motion without blurring. The only fault I would give it would be the integrated speakers don't produce a wide range of sound, but for the price I would suggest buying a Surround Sound Receiver.
Had doubts about this tv since the price was so low but I couldn't have been more wrong. You will have to fine tune the picture so it meets your viewing preference but after that you are good to go. I originally bought the LG from sears which is about the same price as this one and it didn't quite have as good of a picture in HD. I mainly watch sports and this tv delivers a great picture even with fast moving players on the screen. You can't go wrong for the price and the quality of picture.
I got a good price when it was on sale for $600. It's a very good looking TV, mostly black -- fits in well with my darkwood entertainment center. The unit itself is decent, if not spectacular. Maybe it's because I didn't have digital cable or HD DVD -- the regular TV signal or regular video signal shows up on the big screen TV with some imperfections. Overall, it's a very good value for the non-gadget type of customers who don't care too much about the minute details between various brands and models. If you just want a decent 42 in thin TV, it's one of the top choices. I just hope that it lasts...

Clear and vivid color is the best way to describe this T.V. We have had it for 9 months have been more than pleased with it. Great buy for the the price!!!
HIS TV IS FANTASTIC!!! THE SOUND IS AMAZING AND VERY LOUD, AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE A SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM, THE SOUND FROM THE TELEVISION ITSELF IS VERY LOUD, COMPARED TO MY 32' TOSHIBA HDTV. THE PICTURE IS VERY CLEAR AND CRISP. I DID NOT HAVE TO ADJUST ANY PICTURE SETTINGS. THE ONLY SETTINGS I DID WAS PUSHING THE BUTTON FOR AUTOMATIC T.V. TUNING OF CHANNELS, AND I INCREASED THE BASS AND TREBLE ON THE SOUND AND ENHANCED THE SOUND OF THE BASIC SETTINGS, WHICH MADE THE SOUND EVEN STRONGER. I got this TV for myself during the father's day sale ($599.99 + tax). I went from a 27" 10-year-old tube tv to THIS.... Let me tell you - great TV, but the only reason I took off one star is because of the SERVICE I received. I got an email saying to check status of the TV. I checked, and online, it said it was at the store, so I went to the store to pick up my TV. Granted, I had not yet received the EMAIL stating my tv was at the store, but I went anyway. I researched televisions for two years before we finally bought one. LCD/Plasma, I was back and forth. One day I was in Sears and there was this television! It was love at first sight! I KNEW this was "the one".
Great colors, great sound, set up was a breeze and it looks wonderful! My Dad was over a few days ago and mentioned that he wanted to watch a movie on our t.v. because the picture was sooooo great!

I needed an inexpensive upgrade for a 20+ yr old fossil that just wasn't cutting it.
95% of the time I use it for watching movies. The picture is beautiful; better than my former roommate's big, expensive LCD.
I had been serching for months, waiting to pull the trigger and when I found Sears had this baby $100 cheaper than the best online price I jumped on it. No hoping it survives a cross-country journey, no estimated arrival time. I bought this TV for my mother, who is 84 years old. It replaced an old 25" TV. It was very easy to set up and has a great picture. My mother loves it! I never thought I'd be able to get her a 42" TV for $600, so I was thrilled to find this. I think it's a great value for the money.
I not any kind of a TV expert but in my opinion this is a great deal. Good price---good picture & sound. I had been looking for a while & this is the best I have came across. Love It!!
We bought this TV to replace a dying 52" projection set. I thought I would be disappointed with the smaller screen size, but the picture quality more than makes up for it. The set-up was super easy. Switching back and forth between cable and video games is much easier than on our old RCA.
Just got this TV, took it out of the box and was using it within a few minutes. Great picture, good sound and looks great. I got it at sears for $600. Great price, the most bang for your buck!
We got this TV this past week and we are so pleased with it. We saw it in the store and were impressed with the picture so we went home and ordered it online. I can't believe how clear the picture is and the tv looks so sleek. We paid 800.00 for our last tv which was a tube tv. How refreshing to pay 200.00 less for a plasma with a bigger screen and a better picture! I have seen some complaints about the volume. We have absolutely no complaints about the volume or anything else to do with the tv. Plus, you can't beat the price! We love it!
