Excellent Buy

Bought this Panasonic G10 TV around 2 months ago. I spent several months reading reviews on several TVs and hours in several stores looking at TVs. One thing I can say for Plasma TVs is that in a store, where they turn up the brightness on everything - this TV can look dim but at home it doesn't matter....

In my experience the plasma has been a failing technology. Proof would be that the largest plasma dealer dropped it. PIONEER. Even with the 600hz the television has a poor picture. It's just an inflated number for people who don't know much about televisions. The plasma tv also weighs three times as...

Flawless!

At $1499 this television was a great deal. I purchased it with my Sears card to receive an additional 5% off. In store pickup service was quick. Got home and assembled it within 5 minutes. It's a 2 person job to assemble because the screen is so large that you need one person dedicated to holding it upright. The Sears employee warned me that plasma screens should alway be kept upright so I didn't even want to lay it down during assembly. Once we turned on the television we were amazed at the flawless picture quality. I've read reviews of slight colorproblems with this class of televisions but I...

Incredible value and picture!

Incredible blacks and colors..

No pixelation like LCD or white out or black outs.. like you get on LCDs.

Sports and other fast action is great.  You can see very nice details in shadows/black but also in the whites.

Would recommend to other to get.    We have had the TV for 1 month.  I haven't had any issues with the TV so far.   Go big if you can.. I was going to get the G10 50 Inch but for the extra $240 the 4 inches make a big difference.   Purchased online and picked up at the store. With easy of mind knowing that I transported it versus some unreliable shipping company.  The first...

I've owned a 42" Panasonic Plasma for 4.5 years now and have always raved about it. Nothing comes close to a plasma display. When someone I know buys an LCD even when I tell them Plasma is the way to go..I just shake my head in disbelief. When it came time to buy another TV for the basement I did my research between LCD vs Plasma.  LCD's have gotten better since I originally bought my 42" but they are still behind in terms of specs. I enjoy watching sports and playing video games and those too activities IMO require the picture quality of a Plasma (especially as the size of TV increases). If you're...

I have had the TV now for just over 1 month. I will not bore you with my search story. Basically I had boiled it down between this TV, a 52 inch LCD Samsung, and the 55 inch LCD/LED VIZIO. All three in the same price range. My son had purchased the V10 and after seeing it in home then comparing the specs to the G10 and SEARS price, this just seemed to be the best deal out there. The V10 does offer a better anti glare film which could be a factor when deciding on a Plasma screen versus a LCD. I have one point of reflection during the day on the G10, that being a small window in another...

Top Flat Panel of the Day

Have been doing the research, reading reviews, and previewing flat screens for over a year to replace the excellent Panasonic 42" plasma I've had for 5 years. The specs on this 54" G10 Panasonic looked to be world-beaters at the pricepoint, and I took the chance and ordered it for delivery to my Bush Alaska home based on faith (and once delivered here, you won't be returning it). Panasonic has rewarded my research + faith in this TV's specs with a TV that has better blacks, better gray scale in dark scenes, and better color reproduction than the other TV's on the market, and with all that, it can... read full review »

PROs:  Excellent contrast with more shadow detail than most TVs, smooth motion, and best overall picture quality for those with a critical eye (at this price)

CONs:  Limited user menu controls for things that are common on other TVs (for example, lacks option to adjust R G B levels). THX mode, while otherwise excellent, is dim (and cannot be brightened) and worst of all: has green color push that cannot be corrected with user menu controls (Panasonic is supposedly working on the issue). Glass screen is reflective so best viewed in dim light or darkness.  Heavier and uses more energy than LCD....

Panasonic G10 Plasma

Bought this through sears.com after 2pm. Delivered by 11am the next morning for FREE. WOW! Quality of this plasma is amazing. The picture can't be beat. Going into the search I thought I would end up buying an LCD but when you see the LCD next this Plasma there is NO comparison. The new LED TV's are nice and thin but even their picture can't hold a candle to this plasma. Especially when you get 4 feet or more off center from left to right, the LED picture flattens out and distorts. Not happening with this screen. The plasmas keep getting thinner and lighter. Not much heavier than an LCD anymore.... read full review »

54" Plasma

Excellent unit - especially for the price point. I replaced a 50" LG that blew a circuit board after only 3 years. So I am abandoning LG for good and Panasonic gets great reviews. Picture is awesome - way better than LG. I am not using the internet capabilities because I do not have an internet cable in my media room. I have a computer for that stuff anyway so not really a big deal to me. Works great with my Logitech remote, DVD player, and Home Theater Surround system. The only issue is a possible interference with certain Motorola cable boxes. It's well documented on the internet (just google... read full review »

Better than I expected! All the reviews I read rating Panasonic and this mdel as on of the plasma sets on the market is spot on! I have owned 2 other plasmas as well as a Sony LCOS and this set simply blows them away. The quality of the picture and simplicity out of the box is stunning! Throw in the Sears price of $1,529 and this is a no brainer! This set gives you a better picture than the LED sets at a fraction of the cost. If you are looking for the best picture and color levels out there look no more. This is it and no I don't work for Panasonic, I like the TV that much.

I purchased this tv about 2 months ago and have already written a very positive and lengthy review.  I just wanted to tell everyone to ignore the negative review that was written about this tv.  Whoever wrote that review doesn't know what they're talking about and from the sound of it probably hasn't even given the tv a chance.  It's just some LCD/LED fanboyranting and raving for no reason.  Plasma is still the best technology out there and if you do some research online you will find plenty of writing backing that up.  Plasma are still better than these new fancy LED LCD's that...

The Panasonic 54" G10 is one of the most impressive televisions I have ever seen. If you want some of the top notch features that you find on a lot of your more expensive high end sets for a fraction of the cost, this is your T.V. You can get this T.V. at the cost of some of your  sony 46" sets. Now granted this is if your conditions for viewing are suitable for a plasma. Dark and little or controllable natural light.

We wanted to upgrade to a flatscreen TV to mount above our fireplace. I wanted something to watch UK basketball on with the guys, so the Panasonic's 600Hz motion handling capabilities caught my eye.

The picture with a Blueray disc is breathtaking. Regular DVD's are gorgeous. The basketball games are of excellent clarity.

The sound certainly leaves alot to be desired. That's what kept this TV from getting 5 stars. They just don't put quality speakers in these things. Eventually I'll get a nice surround sound system, but for now these speakes will have to do.

The Viera functions are really cool....

I did the research too. Just get it.

I did a lot of research on flat panel's (and I mean a lot) before I purchased this g10 and it certainly paid off. When researching for tv's and other electronics some of the best information is found in user reviews just like this one so I felt the least I could do is write my own review in hopes that it would help others who are doing research on a new tv make their decision. I have a 40 inch sony lcd v series and it's a great tv and was perfect when I lived in an apartment. But I recently moved into a house with a pretty big living room so the 40 just wasn't cutting it. It's now the bedroom tv... read full review »
