I purchased the PD 12 pcs Signature set for my daughter in the beutiful red porcelain finish.

After a few months the exterior of the more frequently used pans looked like they were 20 years old!! She confessed to putting them in the dishwasher only after handwashing didn't seem to matter....so I'm sure the warrantly is no good. I did not see any notice on the box that they were not dishwasher safe. I would never have purchased anything that could not be washed in the dishwasher. I am extremely disappointed and even angry that I bought this product.
...

I was a bit nervous after I bought this set. I went to the store in search of a new pot and pan set and this was just too pretty to pass up. When I got home to check and see if I made a good decision I was worried. With the first two reviews I thought..Oh no! Then I read their problems, looked over the instructional pamphlet and realized their mistakes. You do have to soak this set in order to remove a film on the bottom..if the film is not "COMPLETELY" Removed it will turn a black color as it burns into the cookware when you are cooking. I soaked my pans and made sure to check them over, I did not assume that the 20 minutes really removed all of the covering..I made double extra sure that it did. On few of them you could see just touches of the film left on..it was dark in color, appearing almost as black scratches. I simply resoaked those particular items and wahala..they were fine. I cooked with them and no problems, the set looks beautiful this morning. A few things to bare in mind...
...

My husband knew I wanted a set of cookware for Christmas and bought me these because he knew I LOVE Paula Deen. I was so surprised! I love the way they look and how heavy they are they don't feel like the typical cheap cookware. I do agree with the other reviewer they do have to be pretreated, and are not dishwasher safe, but I am used to cooking with cast iron so I was not as bothered by that. I followed the instructions also, and just used them for the first time today and I agree that they are just not attractive once used which is very disappointing. I still love Paula but am disappointed in this product....

SherryD says "quote "dishwasher voids warranty"" about Paula Deen 12 Piece Stainless Steel W/Copper Cookware Set

Yep! I couldn't believe it when I read that. My husband brought these home after I mentioned I'd like some new cookware. He knows I like PD so he thought these would be ok. First of all, you have to pretreat the bottoms with baking soda to remove the protective coating on the copper bottoms. Thereafter you have to wash by hand because the info enclosed says "washing in the dishwasher voids warranty"!!!! However, even though I followed the directions and washed them by hand, the gas range still scarred the bottoms. They cook fine, but need to be kept out of sight when not in use, because the finish is so delicate. Also, a larger skillet would have been nice instead of plasticware that everyone already has. Not worth the price. I'm surprised PD would put her name on something of this quality, or lack thereof. It should be dishwasher safe at least....
