LockedFuture C3 Tool Wish List

posted on July 04, 2010 at 10:53AM Inappropriate?

I really like the C3 tools.  Was wondering, what C3 tool would you want that hasn't even been invented yet?  For me, I'd like a portable car battery jumper.

Currently, I have the C3 inflator that I really like.  I also have a Husky battery jumper.  In my trunk, I carry the inflator, battery jumper, C3 battery and charger.  Would be nice to not have to carry the Husky battery jumper around.

Another thing I'd like to see would be a portable power station.  For example, with a built-in inverter and jacks to charge USB, devices, AAA, AA batteries,  but all runs of a C3 battery.

What's on your wishlist?

Maybe a lawnmower that runs on two C3 batteries?

I've had several requests for a C3 boombox, akin to the DeWalt or Bosch radios.

Not having the LED C3 light in our store, I have no idea if it's got spotlight brightness. If not, a >3 watt LED spotlight would be nice.

An angle grinder might be good. I've seen a Ryobi model. I'm sure it works better on Li-ion than Ni-Cad.

How about a C3 hand-held fertilizer spreader? Don't have to turn a crank; just pop the battery in, set your level, and pull the trigger!

I don't think you could ever get the power necessary for a car jump out of a cordless tool battery. I doubt even DeWalt's monster 36v batteries would be able to do that without severely overheating the battery.

Yeah.  I didn't know about the science as to weather a car jumper would work or not but figured since it's a wish list, I'd put it out.  Also, since the C3 can run a chainsaw, I figured, perhaps there would be enough juice to jump a car.

I have the C3 LED light.  It's brilliant and very white.  Best light I have and I got it on sale for $14.  The big advantage is one system of rechargable C3 batteries.  It is not a pinpoint spot light, but is has a large and smoothly illuminated area typical of powerful LED flashlights.  Much more light than my 3-D cell MAG light.

It is brighter than my Surefire L2 LED light which cost $160.  (Of course, that's much smaller, waterproof, and tough as an army tank.)

I'd like to see Sears come out with a small AC adaptor so these tools could run indefinitely without the batteries, or when a batt is being charged.

How about a C3 hedge trimmer or C3 edger/line trimmer?  Other companies have battery operated lawn tools, C3 needs to get with it.  More people need a hedger / trimmer then a rarely used chain saw.

There are C3 hedge trimmer, edger, and blower.  They're located in the Lawn and Garden section under power tools.

I'm looking at picking up the hedge trimmer this year.

I'm pretty sure that you'll need to invest in a couple of extra batteries too.

Type the following numbers into the search box on sears.com. You'll be pleasantly surprised that you're a little tardy to the party! :)

I wish there was a plug in adaptor for some, if not all, of the C3 tools which would allow someone to plug in their tools into an outlet and/or extension cord and work while batteries are charging.

I would love to have one to mainly use with my radio.

How about a Portable Bandsaw like Milwaukee makes, or a SDS+ rotary hammer, or a compact right angle drill with a 24 position clutch? A grinder would make a excellent addition to my collection as would a cable that would supply power from the charger to the tool. I would like to see more combo sets using the lithium batteries.  While my Streamlight Strion is brighter, lighter in both ways, and much stronger than the C3 LED light, I will be using the C3 light while I am working because it is nearly impossible to get a handheld light pointed in the direction of your work.

a plug in adapter would cripple battery sales...don't look for sears to shoot their ownself in the foot with these high profit battery sales

Batteries are high profit? Maybe for DeWalt, that charges $90 for a NiCad 18v battery, but not on the Craftsman side. They're priced at $35 and often on sale for $5 off. These batteries only yield a few bucks of profit. Trust me, Sears isn't making big money on batteries. Accessories and add-on tools are much more profitable than batteries. Bits, blades, that's money. Batteries are not a real profit driver.

I would like to get a $35 replacement battery for my 18v drill/driver. The battery number is 982027 and my last quoted price from Sears was ~ $65.  Is there a replacement. The life was not the long. I am not a heavy user, and used all of the correct charging and use suggestions that I could find.

What about C3 powered nail guns, I know there is curently a staple/brad gun, what about athers? I dewalt makes a cordless finishing gun.

I'd like to see a C3 angle grinder, nothing too powerful, just for small jobs when I don't need to drag my corded one out, both ryobi and dewalt make one.

I would love to see a C3 hedge trimmer with a shorter blade.  I have a corded 17 in. one now, and I find that one too long, so the current 22 in. blade is just way too long.  I'd like to see one with a 12 in. blade.  Or better yet, go crazy and make one with interchangable blades.

I agree with someone above that it would be nice to have an A/C adaptor to be able to run them on A/C power while you have the battery charging.  Something with a very stong cord that's build to last.. Should not be that hard for them to back a 120VAC to 19.2 volt cord..

An A/C adapter is a very interesting idea.

I would like to see Craftsman bring out a jobsite radio similar to the Dewalt of Riobi that would be the perfect addition to the C-3 19.2 line of tools.

I'd just like to be able to get my craftsman tools in the color scheme of the Kawasaki brand tools. That black & green color scheme is sweet.

I'd also like to see a small nail-gun offered, and the paint sprayer brought back.

Another thought... what about custom-fitted peg-board hooks for each of the tools in the C3 line? Right now I'm just fitting together regular pegs till I find positions that hold my tools. The only thing I've found is the drill holder, which doesn't really fit my C3 drill, but its better than nothing.

Another thing that could be useful in the Lawn & Garden line is a hand held Seed/Fertilizer/Salt spreader.
