I had used a traditional exercise bike (air resistance) but, alas, the belt finally wore out. Not needing a high end product, I found the Pro-Form 10.8 Recumbant Bike fit my needs quite well. In the 3 months I've had it, I've spent at least 20 minutes a day on it. Can't complain about it's performance. It's easy to get off when I'm finished and is just the right height to watch the morning news on the TV while I work out.
The programmed routines give me enough of a workout to satisfy my health needs. I'm also able to set my own pace; which helps on those mornings when I feel like riding longer....
read full review »The seat slides back when you ride, store not very helpful with problem. There is a design problem. I feel they should be recalled. They will give our money back, but then we would have to spend another 100.00 dollars and have to put it together.
I wanted a bike that was comfortable. The seat was my main focus. Not only was the seat comfortable but there is a fan on the bike that keeps me cool, and I can just get in the zone so easily. I feel if I have to exercise, (and I do) It has got to be as easy and fun as possible. I put my ear phones on and before I knew it, I had already past my goal for the night. Yep if you are looking for comfort and fun with results, this ProForm Exercise Bike is a No Brainer! :O)
This bike is about 1/2 of the gym quality bikes in resistance. I use #10 (do you have one that goes up to 11?) and it is like level 5 at the gym but for a home fitness product, I am happy. Very smooth and quiet. Had it only 1 week. Will see how it lasts.
I bought one of these just after Christmas in 2009, it was a floor model as it was all that was left. I had to exchange it under warrenty within the 1st 90 days due to the gearing/ resistance gears falling apart. When it was replaced I got the same bike and the exact same problem. The gearing/ resistance gears are falling apart. I can hear it inside the box and feel it while working out. I would not recommend this bike, it may be a little bit cheaper, but you get what you pay for I guess. 2 bikes down within 1 year.
I We've owned this bike for almost a year now, and while it does the job for the price (on sale sometimes for 149), It has some major drawbacks.
The heart rate monitor being horribly erratic isn't a big problem for me, because I really dont need it. I bought the bike for my girlfriend and ended up using it as well, and I do not use the exercise routines, I just set it to 10 and pedal for a while. The big deal breaker, had I known at the time of purchase, would be the hold down screw for adjusting the distance from the pedals. Whoever decided that using a hard, smooth plastic chunk against a...

The person who wrote "Do yourself a favor and save up for a better one July 19, 2009" is spot-on correct. I could have written his/her review, although perhaps not as well.
Pros: Sturdily built.
Made by Nordic Track.
Easy access to the seat (important for the handicapped).
Easily adjustable resistance - just push a button.
Priced right.
Cons: Heart rate monitor is erratic, if it works at all. Therefore some of the workout routines are useless.
Most women won't be able to sufficiently...
read full review »I wanted a small, basic recumbent bike for the purpose of getting some daily exercise and losing weight and did not want to spend much money. I wish I had waited. Here are the main problems with this unit:
1. The console returns wildly different heart rates. Once in a while they seem like they could be accurate, then a few minutes later, it returns a radically different number. Without an accurate heart rate, the 4 built-in workouts are useless. Also, the console is not backlit, like an old LCD calculator, so if you want to read it you will need a light source. The "shelf for reading...

That said, I followed the instructions and made sure that all of the parts were present first, then began to read the instruction booklet. Next I began the assembly of this present for my father.
I wanted him to have a nice recumbant bicycle to use on days that it is raining or inconvenient to get a road bike out and ride. He loves to ride every day if possible.
This Pro Form 10.8x was relatively easy to assemble it took me about two hours and again, YES I did read the directions...
