ProForm Treadmill, 510i —

I bought this Proform Plus 520I treadmill 2 years ago in March of 2007.  I had done lots of research and spent several months checking prices until the price dropped considerably in March of 07.  I was a moderate user - 1 or twice a week until early this summer when I began using it more often.   It had worked o.k. up until 3 weeks ago.  When I got on the treadmill none of the buttons worked except the incline and 6 mph. I read through the manual that came with the treadmill and did the troubleshooting actions - opening the hood to make sure the magnet was aligned correctly). This did not fix the problem.  I called Sears and made an appointment for a repairman to come take a look at it.    It cost $96 for a sears repairman to come look at it.  After opening the front and checking magnet alignment (which I had already done) - he said it was a faulty console. He looked up how much it would cost to replace - $400 parts and labor -- ridiculous!  Sears is WAY overpriced in their service charges and I am terribly disappointed this treadmill only lasted 27 months.  What a waste of a couple hundred dollars.

To hokiegal,

I apologize that you’ve had these issues with your treadmill. We try to make sure we sell the highest quality products, but anything can have problems. That being said, we hate to see issues like this and we’d like to help. Our pricing is comparable to any other National service unit, but we should have some options for you. My name is Brian and I am part of the Sears Cares escalations team and we would like to look into this situation especially if it’s not yet resolved. At your convenience, please contact my office via email at searscares@searshc.com. In the email, please provide a contact phone number and the phone number the treadmill was originally purchased under (if different than the contact phone number) and we will call you directly. Also, please provide the screen name (hokiegal) used to post here for reference to this issue, and we do look forward to talking to you soon.

Thank you,
