Proform XP Trainer 580, poor quality for the price

ProForm XP Trainer 580 Treadmill —

My wife and I purchased the Proform XP Trainer 580 in Feb 09.  We used it for 10 months without issue...Except that it contained two left cup holders (no right)  and when we called Icon fitness they sent the wrong replacement part...twice.  We ended up getting the replacement part from the floor model at Sears.  My son was running on the treadmill on Nov 30, 2009 when the walking belt stopped abruptly causing him to fall and injure himself.  After some investigation I found that the drive motor had separated from the motor mount causing the drive belt to slip off which resulted in the walking belt stopping abruptly.  When the walking belt stopped my son didn't....he ran into the cross bar which in turn caused him to fall on his back resulting in minor injuries.  It appears that tension on the drive belt was so great the stress of my son running on the treadmill caused one of the two motor mount bolts to shear off.  I made repairs, but since then the motor has now stopped working altogether.  I never purchase extended warranties, but in restrospect it may have been worth it for this sub-par product.

My ProForm Crosswalk XP 580 lasted about 18 months. Then the motor that changes the incline broke. I'll never buy another ProForm. Wish I'd read your review first.
