We have owned this bike for just over 18 months and use it over an hour a day 5-6 days per week. Had a squeak that I could not stand or explain so I took the bike apart. Turns out 1 (of 3) bolts that attach the frame to the rear pedestal had broken! I'm about 170 lbs. and my wife is less so I don't think we overstressed the bike. Subsequent use the other 2 bolts snap on the whole thing collapses! Fortunately I heard the snap and managed to get off before it crashed down. My guess is that it is a design flaw but bottom-line -- if you own this bike be very careful!

I love this bike. I hurt my foot in March and found I have a flatfoot. Up until that time I was alternating riding my upright Schwinn exercise bike and walking five miles a day.

Through months of strenghtening my foot and finally breaking down and buying a custom-made orthotic I decided to try a recumbent bike again to strenghten my foot and knees. I had one years ago (can't remember the brand) but loved it then. My upright bike bothers my foot right now.

I have to say this is a good quality bike. It does not shake and is solid and quiet. I have used it for about 2 weeks now and found it to give me a good cardio workout. It is a lot less expensive than a Schwinn and does what it says it will do. You have to realize that these machines aren't going to give an accurate pulse rate, etc, even my Schwinn doesn't do that. I have also found that it has good resistance. I am using resistence 1 and it is tight.

I think this is an excellent product and is very affordable. I also love how the seat...
...

I started out with the first three workouts since I'm certainly not what you call "in shape". At first, I could only burn 140 calories, according to the bike. However, I've been working my way up the other workouts and yesterday I did #8 -- there is indeed resistance on the bike. I managed to burn 171 calories -- a big difference. I think that if you want to set the resistance manually, you have to move the wheel slowly until it "clicks" in. Simply turning it doesn't seem to work, at least that has been my experience.
...

This is a great starter bike for people looking to get in shape. The recumbent position is much more comfortable than the upright position and is easier on the seat and knees. The included exercise programs are more than adequate. As out of shape as I am, it's still been very easy to get up to a good 1/2 hour workout after only a week. I am very happy!
...

I read the reviews before purchasing this bicycles and saw the review that said the petals did not fit the bike. That seems like a fluke but it happened to me too. I had the assembly almost completed when I tried to put on the petals. They were the wrong size. I did get the correct petals and the bike is great but instead of struggling trying to determine what you are doing wrong, remember the two reviews and just call for replacement petals.
...

Okay...i bought this bike 2 weeks ago. It was easy to assemble. I looked online first prior to buying the bike and watched the video that was a demo of its performance. I purchased the ifit card also. Now to get to the point...when i watched the video it said it had all these great features..the video also said LISTEN while Jullian Michaels coach you through each workout. Stop right "HEAR."...The video is misleading..you can not HEAR anything when you use the ifit card on the bike because there is no audio. So, the video sample of the product is misleading. DO NOT BY THE IFIT CARD FOR THIS BIKE!! The other things is that THERE IS NO RESISTENCE ON THE BIKE---I WILL BE TAKING THIS BIKE BACK TOMORROW.
...

I read the reviews before purchasing the bike, noting that one reviewer claimed this bike did not have enough resistance. I chose to ignore this, thinking that the reviewer was probably much more into exercise than myself--I have barely exercised in the past 10 years or so. After assembling the bike, I quickly tried it at its most difficult setting, and that's when I realized that the other reviewer actually understated the lack of resistance. This bike, at its hardest setting, has almost no resistance, making it seem rather useless for exercising. Like the other reviewer, I also returned the bike.
...

I just used this bike for the first time. I bought it in the store. I assembled it in about 90 minutes by myself (I'm a single gal weigh about 270). I also bought the iFit level 1 card for $35. I plug it in expecting to hear Jillian Michael's voice. Nada. She was completely silent through the 30 minutes. After chatting with Sears and speaking to Sears online and on the phone, they were worthless. I was advised in chat to call ProForm. They informed me this bike is not compatible with the audio for the iFit card. So basically you pay $35 for a card that really doesn't do anything else that you already get with the bike. Will take the card back for a refund.

The bike runs pretty quiet. The seat feels a little hard on my butt. The heart rate fluctuates and I'm pretty sure the calorie count isn't accurate because the bike has no idea how much I weigh or how tall I am or anything about me. It was fairly easy to put together on my own. The hardest parts were the bottom of the......

Hello I got this several months ago it was easy to assemble of course my son did it for me, lol easy to use he uses it more than i do. but it works great. they only thing i don't like about it is the fact that it makes a sound when you are riding it. i think that the flywheel in it is a little to close to something because i can just move the handle bars to the right and the sounds stops then it is quiet as can be. that is the only con i can see with it but I love it and I ride it several times a day. I also got it on sale when makes it an even better deal. Thanks to my local sears for ordering it for me, oh one other thing i just thought of is that it should have included the power adapter, that means i have to spend 20 plus more to get the adapter and I haven't found it at sears yet you can get it online though.
...

I have had the bike 3 weeks and have used it at least 5 days per week. I am pleased with its smoothness and how quiet it is. I chose this bike because the seat adjustment was similar to a car, unlike another well known brand whose knob adjustment came off in my hand. I do have three complaints. I have trouble getting my heart rate to register, the seat could use more padding, and I thought their advertisement of the IFIT technology is misleading since you have to order the cards extra. It would make sense to include at least one.
...

Bike was easy to put together. Instructions are very clear, parts are labeled well. All the nut and bolts are set-up in a cardboard holder that neatly separates all the small parts along with a "map" of the layout of the parts for reference. Took me just over an hour to put it together by myself. If I had another person to help it would probably take 40-45 minutes.

We've had the bike set-up now for 2 days. Has worked perfectly, action is smooth and quiet. The various workout options offered as nice, including workouts geared toward specific calorie burn goals (such as 200 calories burned). You can also select manual mode or purchase iFit cards to use. As FYI the bike does not come with any iFit cards, but you can download a demo of one from iFit online to try out. You simply download the file and copy onto an SD card (used with many popular digital cameras). iFit cards are another option to the workouts already offered on the console already, not sure we'll purchase the iFit cards or not,...
...

I had sat on a couple other recumbents at Sears before I arrived at the ProForm XP. What I really liked about the ProForm was the comfort of the seat and the ease of how to move the seat forward and back. Myself, I'm 6'1 330lbs and my wife is 4'9", so the bike I was looking for needed to be able to fit both of us and the ProForm delivers. Actually, this bike can accommodate people with longer legs than mine. The other day I actually had to move the seat forward a bit as my achilles started hurting because I was extended too far back and I initially didn't have the seat as far back as it could go.

I had a professional installer come over to my house to assemble the XP 400 R and an elliptical. He installed both pieces of equipment in under 90 minutes and totally relieved the stress of trying to assemble it myself. He only charged $140 to assemble both (found him on craigslist).

The bike is well built and runs very smooth.

But I ended up returning the unit because the resistance was simply not high enough. It goes up to level 10, which is obviously not easy, but not really challenging either. I feel that the MAX level for any bike should be very hard otherwise after daily use you will lose that ability to really push yourself.

I ended up buying a Schwinn S23 which costs more money, but had a MUCH higher resistance level.

The pro-form is a great bike for someone who is maybe not in the best shape, or may be a little older in age. But if you are looking for a challenge at higher resistance levels I would avoid....
