napennut says "Proctor SIlex Electric Kettle: Don't let the price deceive you!" about Proctor Silex 1 qt. Electric Kettle

After reading a few reviews that weren't all too positive on this kettle, I wavered back and forth on the decision to buy or not to buy. I finally decided to do so.

Though this electric kettle is ridiculously inexpensive through Kmart and Sears, it should be known that the quality of this item far exceeds the "cheap" price.

I've been using it at least twice daily for the past couple weeks I've owned it and am amazed at how efficient and friendly it is.

Some complained that there is plastic taste to the boiled water. The instructions state clearly that it should be broken in by boiling water in it and then emptying it, rinsing it, and then repeating.

I followed the directions and have not encountered a "plastic" taste to the water.

A great feature to this kettle is the automatic shut off feature.

If you're looking for an electric kettle at a cost effective price without having to sacrifice quality or safety, give this electric kettle a try.

I had a kettle before, the disadvantage of it was that it cannot automatically cut off power when the hot water is ready. I regret to buy that one, and I would like to buy a new one.

This one satisfies my requirements -- it is portable and flexible to use. In addition, the capacity of the kettle is enough for hot water drinking or tea making. The most important point for me is that it is auto-shut off. Since then, do not worry the electric power accident anymore. This kettle can handle that for me!!!! Do not forget that it heats water quickly.
...

This electric kettle is great. I use it every morning to boil water to make coffee in a French press. I thought maybe, being plastic, it would have tainted the water with a plastic taste but it does not at all. I've even used it to hard boil eggs. Place 3 or 4 (depending on the size) in the bottom. Cover with one inch of water. Turn it on. After it comes to a boil & shuts off wait 15 minutes. There you go. A great multitasker.
...

chefkaikaison86 says "This little kettle reminds me of the kettle i owned in Scotland!" about Proctor Silex 1 qt. Electric Kettle

Although this kettle may not seem like much, its ability to heat water in a short amount of time is beneficial to the one who needs a cup of tea in a hurry very practical. Its low cost and high functionality has made the cost of this item at $19.99 well worth it. It prides me to know that sometimes a product might be cheap in price but retains its wealthy attributes. I recently purchased a hamilton beach kettle and it did not last 3 weeks, where as this kettle will reapeatedly survive for me for probably 3 years. I would recommend this product the the person with a low budget, but who needs it to last a long time.
...

Husband bought this because my parents overseas have one - and use it daily for their instant coffe. I works quick, but, I think heating up a cup of water in the microwave it just as quick. Think it's really just an extra appliance taking up counter space. The other night heard a click click and then realized that our visitors must have left the unit on all day. No water was left in it. I guess it doesn't have an automatic shut-off like our coffee-maker. Lucky our house didn't burn down. For now, we unplug it when not in use so it won't accidentally be turned on.
...

I was very pleased with this purchase. It gets the water hot quickly and allows me to have tea in my office without interrupting my day to go to the break room.

My only complaint--and it is a minor one--is that the cord is a little short. I know it's for safety reasons, and if I used the kettle on a countertop it would be fine. Since I plug it in under my desk, though, I just use an extension cord.

A great purchase, and Sears is always a pleasure....

Bought this on sale 1 yr ago for the daily tea drinkers in our home, & have used it most days since with no troubles. A 2-pc, inexpensive little kettle that easily gets the job done: water boils in about 2 minutes, automatically clicks itself off, & stays hot 30-40 minutes for 2nds. Cord is kind of short though (guess maybe a safety thing)? No regrets buying it at all....
