ProForm Treadmills —

My husband and I had done quite a lot of research in preparation for a treadmill purchase, since this is our first. For the features as well as the affordability, the Proform 580 seemed to fit the bill. We went to our local Sears store and the salesperson was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the treadmills, answering each question and addressing every concern we confronted him with. We looked at some of the less expensive treadmills, but they really didn't offer the features that we were looking for, so we moved on to the Proform 580. Regularly priced at $899 it seemed to be a good deal as it was on sale for $599. We were very happy about the price, to say the least! We opted for the 3 year extended warranty, because a technician will come to our home once a year for maintenance as well as repairs within the 3 year period. We didn't want to have the treadmill for 4 months, encounter technical problems and have to pay out of pocket for repairs. Three days after our purchase, the treadmill was further marked down for a special 3 day sale! Oh NO! We went straight back to our Sears store, receipt in hand and they immediately refunded us the additional $100, no questions, no hassels!!!We had scheduled delivery and today when the delivery personnel brought the treadmill, they were very courteous and carried the treadmill to the room where we would be setting it up. Before we even began opening all the packages of screws and bolts, we scanned through the instructions for assembly. The instructions were clear and easy to understand, and from start to finish it took less than and hour and a half for us to have the treadmill assembled and running! It is pretty much a two-person job, as the treadmill is heavy and it is much easier if you have someone to help hold the large pieces while the other person stabalizes them.Very easy with a power drill. We love the preset workouts, and it is great that if the preset is either too intense, or not intense enough, with the touch of a button you can adjust the intensity to suit your preference. The display is great, and is easy to read at a glance, showing how many calories or carbs you have burned, time lapsed, time left for preset workout, mph, %incline, miles walked, and heart rate! Can't ask for more for the price! The heart monitor is a plus, but is a ballpark reading, which is to be expected. While using the Proform 580 today, my heartrate stayed relatively consistent within +-10bpm range, which I thought was great. The treadmill is relatively quiet and the 2-speed fan is great! Not noisey enough to worry about. When walking or running on a treadmill, I don't expect it to be "whisper quiet", and I have no complaints about this one at all.We bought the Proform 580 primarily for weightloss and to become  healthier. With the delivery of twin grandsons today, we want to be around for a long time and the Proform 580 is going to help us do just that! :) :)
