Great TV, Great Price !

The first thing that happen when I turned this TV is that I was blown away by the sound quality, it is the best I have ever heard come out of TV speakers ! I LOVE IT! All I have is PROS for this TV, there is issues but read on.. The picture is good to above average with HD, I have seen better on a Toshiba... read full review »

Artifacts/Picture Quality

The picture quality is awful. Blocky artifacts in SD and HD via HDMI is not as good as it should be. This is a CHEAP t.v. and I was suckered in by the price. Big mistake. I should have returned this when I had the chance. Even on HD stations using HDMI to connect my HD dish receiver to the t.v., the... read full review »

From happy to unhappy

I was so very happy with the t.v. until about 2 weeks ago when I could not get it to turn on with the remote or the off and on button on the t.v. I have only had the t.v. since Nov. 2007. I researched on line and found that this is a common problem with this brand (Proscan). Now I am stuck with a t.v. that I can not use but am still paying for and in addition have to pay someone to fix.

We bought this tv about 1 1/2 yrs ago from sears. About one week ago the main board broke and it will cost almost as much to fix it as a new tv would cost, and we did not purchase the extended warranty. I would recommend spending a little more money and getting a higher qualitity tv that has a better work history.

JUST WHAT I WANTED

OLD TV WENT UP IN SMOKE. HAD TO DO SOMETHING. TALKED TO AN ASSOCIATE I WORK WITH WHO HAD JUST BOUGHT THIS MODEL AND WENT INTO GREAT DETAIL ABOUT ALL THE TECHNICAL STUFF AND HOW GREAT A TV HE THOUGHT IT WAS FOR THE PRICE. WELL I'M NOT TECHNICAL I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF IT HAD A GOOD PICTURE AND WOULD IT MEET MY NEEDS GOING INTO THE FUTURE. WELL I'M VERY PLEASED I DO NOT HAVE HD SIGNAL SO I JUST HAVE REGULAR TV AND I AM VERY GLAD I MADE THIS PURCHASE FOR THE PICTURE IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONE I HAD AND MOST OF ALL I APPRECIATE THE GLARE REDUCTION I NOW HAVE OVER WHAT I HAD. I NO LONGER SEE THE... read full review »

Just purchased

Hi, After doing a bunch of research... this seemed to be the best deal around, but I had to sign up for a Sears Credit card to get 10% off and $15 off the price... brought the price to $705.00. Now, nothing really came close. It seems decent. I don't notice any flickering. I am happy about the purchase.

Great TV for the price

This TV is a steal at the sale price.I watch digital TV from my antenna and it is great. I have no problems with pictures broadcast in 480.They look clear and sharp. The 720 broadcast programs look amazing. Nascar is awesome in 720 i could actually see the small paint scrapes as the cars went by the camera. This TV has proved me wrong about LCD contrast. The blacks look great on this TV. I don't have cable so i can't comment on the picture with that.I have had no problems with the remote.I even pointed it in multiple directions away from the TV and still was able to change the station and volume.... read full review »

I recently bought a Proscan flatscree 40in (1080p). My FIRST FLATSCREEN! When I was in the store (Sears) I noticed It was brighter than the others like Samsung. I thought It was the settings that the store had the TV on. So I went on to buy it at what I thought was a great price, the cheapest 40in I saw there! When I got it home I hooked it up and went on to set the settings. Well the settings would NOT stop how white the picture was. Not even the contrast/tint/color...Nothing was helping! Well its been 5 days and I called around and looked up complaints about Proscan. I found out that Proscan...

Great buy!

I chose the ProScan over some more expensive ones by comparing the quality of their pictures in the store. I certainly made a great choice. What was surprising when I got it home was all of the features it has: every input you an imagine, several picture formats (std., vivid, movie, user) and screen views (incl. zoom). It has a mysteriously great tuner. Even though I'm not connected to a Comcast digital box, it has great Hi-Def pix; e.g., I can watch reg size NBC as Ch 4 or hi-def widescreedn as 4-1. Some of the higher channel numbers have three or more different stations, e.g., 77-1, -2 and -3.... read full review »

Great TV....

I had to buy a tv after the screen on my 8 month old 42" Phillips 1080p 120 HZ set accidently got cracked. Cat knocked a lamp into it. I looked and looked for hours on Sears web site for a good replacement. After almost making my mind up on another brand I went to Sears the next day to see what they actually had in stock. I looked at everything they had but kept going back to this Proscan set because times being as they are I didnt want to spend way too much. The Phillips after taxes was almost $1200.00. No extended. This Proscan was on sale for $749.00. I finally decided on this set and purchased... read full review »

Good for the money

Hey out there my reviewer nickname says it all. My wife and I think this TV is great for the money. Sure you can spend more on a TV, but you get what you pay for. Since this TV is under 1000 dollars you are not going to get all of the features of the high priced models. EVERYONE REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE HD SERVICE TO GET THE HD PICTURE. We have Time Warner and on the HD channels the TV has a incredible picture. I was watching the football game and my wife walked in and said WOW!! you can see the fans faces and the blades of grass on the field. You can't argue with that response. I see that... read full review »

Great TV for price hooked up for HD

Was looking for a cheaper TV for my sports room that had a good picture. Compared this model to other name brands that sold for 2 to 5 hundred more and could not tell a difference in picture quality. In some cases the Proscan had a much better picture than the so called top of the line brands. Got it home and hooked it up in standard def. It was okay but not the quality picture I saw in the store. Once I feed it a HD signal the quality was much better and looked like the model in the store. I agree with other that the remote is basic at best and can be a problem when using farther away from the... read full review »
