Quartino's is literally my wife and I's most frequented restaurant in Chicago, of course it doesn't hurt that we live across the street.  We love this place because first, the food is fantastic.  Portions are smaller (but are priced appropriately) and there is no traditional coursing, the food's brought out when its ready.  People are encouraged to share their dishes (plenty of sharing plates are left on the table).  While the portions are smaller, you can still probably eat yourself pretty full with 2-3 dishes for two people.  Though we've been pretty happy with everything that we've ordered, we usually end up ordering the same thing.  Taglitelle Bolognese and the Popeye pizza.  Popeye has fresh spinach on top (so it's added after the pizza has been cooked), they do this with a lot of their pizzas and greens (i think they have arugala on others), so you can convince yourself that the pizza is actually "healthy".  That's because when you eat greens, it actually negates the calories carbs and fat that normally come in pizza.  The fresher the greens, the higher the impact.  Clearly works for me.

Its a huge space with two full floors (i think the second floor is usually used for private parties, since i've never sat up there).  But it's a cool atmosphere, feels like an old italian kitchen or cafe.  They have old italian movies playing on the TV, italian magazines, newspapers hanging by the door for patrons to read.  Of course, i have no idea what an old italian kitchen/restaurant feels like having never been to Italy, so i'll take their word for it.  The place usually is packed on friday/saturday nights though, so if you go at peak times definitely plan for a wait.  You can sometimes sneak a table at the bar though, which is fine if you don't mind the crowd.  Great, cheap wine too.  If you go any other time, you can usually get a table pretty quickly.  Definitely recommended, love this place.
