RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100 —

The Blackberry 8100 Pearl is a great phone, it really is. It has changed a lot of what I do, how I receive news, and even how fun it is to drive!First off, I'm on the Sprint network, They offer great service and billing and have a great network in the Atlanta area, I can't vouch for other areas in the nation. From what I hear each service provider's network varies greatly in each metro area. I also have the $30 a month Blackberry data plan, which includes unlimited text, GPS. internet, and television on this phone.As far as practical features go, I'd rate the GPS and the internet access as the best features. The GPS is just as accurate if not more accurate than my wife's Tom Tom and the internet gives me the ability to check my work email and the latest news whenever I need to.The text typing is amazing, it really does predict the words you regularly use and it makes texting and emailing on the fly really easy. The only problem is that with each of the two phones I've had for some reason the phone just automatically turned it off, and I can never get it back! This is why I'm on my way to get another replacement.The camera takes pretty good pictures and even gives you the ability to zoom 3x and 5x. Since I have a 2GB mini-SD card in my blackberry, I can hold hundreds of pictures on my phone. Also, you can take videos on the Blackberry, an amazing feature.Last but not least, one of the most fun features is the ability to play MP3's. I purchased an MP3 player adapter that allows me to connect my phone to basically a cassette tape which I can place in my truck's dashboard. This allows me to play any song I have on my Blackberry through my truck's sound system. This makes the hours I spend every week driving to and from work a lot more tolerable.Final word: Great phone, amazing features, but for goodness sakes, if you are buying a phone this technologically swamped, get the protection plan (a couple dollars a month). That way if your phone bugs out like mine have, you can just go back and get a new one.
