LockedWhat is the difference between a cooktop and a range?

well a cook top is on a range but you can also buy a cooktop sepratley as well as an oven wit no cook top

range = stove most people think of
cook top = just burners
oven = the hot box you bake in

also, cooktop + wall oven are usually more expensive than the traditional free-standing range.
