LockedGE manual inadequate

posted on November 11, 2009 at 01:19PM Inappropriate?

Got delivery of new GE Energy Star bottom freezer French doors high gloss refrigerator GFSF2KEYC WW and have a manual that is way too generic.

For example, although it shows 3 sets of controls, including mine which has a "turbo Cool" light on the right of the temperature settings, it never mentions how to use it or what it means. Also, I have a flat tipped wing shape piece of plastic (approx.5x2") and no idea or diagram as to where it goes or what it does. It has a hook on one end so maybe it is some sort of divider? I found this after the delivery guys left as I was washing the drawers.

I know they don't want the expense of printing different manuals for each model but one slip of paper on a different feature shouldn't be too much to expect, ya think?

The plastic should be a divider for the door shelves, if it's what I think it is. TurboCool should be a feature to bring the temperature of the fridge down faster after adding groceries, to get them to refrigeration temperature faster.

Sometimes the manufacturer's hotline is a useful resource for this kind of information, too.

Maybe the manufacturer has "given up" on owners reading the more detailed manuals?

The key is including lots of pretty pictures and drawings...
