Do not buy this item. Bad quality.
When this useless piece of plastic actually manages to load a dvd it either switches on the subtitles, changes the screen resolution to something that the tv doesn't support or plays the dvd without a picture. Just to keep things fresh it alternates between a high pitched whine and no sound at all. It took me 20 minutes to play a movie last night.
The VCR function worked, surprisingly but when the unit is turned off it makes a constant noise like it's trying to load the tape.

It is 6mo old and it won,t record or play tapes at all. It will cost more to fix it than I payed for it. I have other combos that are 5 years old and they still work
Worked Great for 6 months. then it broke. Now we have some great movies, and unless we want to invest half the selling price 6 months later plus shipping one way, not to mention "how long will it take?" Better to invest the money in something new.
