WIth just over 1.5 years of having this appliance we have had to repair it twice. The first time for the broken door latch, and know for the rear outer tub and bearing kit. Both total 75% of the total cost of the machine AND we are still waiting (going on week 3 now) on the parts. Apparently no one in the states stocks repair parts which is funny because bast on the poor workmanship someone could make a killing in stocking samsung parts.

All the professional reviews and national testing compainies rated this at the top, but they REALLY missed the mark on this one. AVOID AVOID!

I have owned this washer 2 years now and it has been the worst washer I have ever owned, my $250 top load washer that I had for 6 years was a better washer than this. Every third load the error code comes up saying that there is not enough water pressure and the load won't finish and the error code repeatedly comes up for that load. We have had a technician out to check it and everything is "fine" with it. I have told anyone and everyone who is looking for a washing machine to never buy samsung and I will never buy another samsung product again. This was an overpriced waste of money and I can't wait for it to break in 5 years (if it lasts that long) so I can get a different set.

We've had our Samsung washer for about a year now, and we're happy that we bought it. We picked this model mostly because we needed a new washer and this one was nice looking, front-loading, and we could get the matching dryer as well. This model has a lot of "features" and I have to say that I probably have not even tried half of them yet. This washer is not as quiet as the last washer I had, and even the quickest wash cycle is not nearly as fast as the last washer I had. When you select a cycle type (e.g., "Delicates," "Quick Wash," or "Towels") the display will show a time (e.g., 41 minutes, 38 minutes, etc.). But it always takes longer that that amount of time, because it takes extra time to "weigh" the load and do other stuff. I don't consider 38 minutes to be quick in the first place. This is a front load machine and we bought the platform because you really need that not only to have it look good but also to be able to put clothes in/take them out without...
...

This set is hands down amazing! It is so incredibly quiet I forget I'm evening doing laundry. It is on a tiled laundry room floor so I haven't had any issues with the stability during spin cycle. I will say that there is the musty odor that is produced at times from the washer. I just leave the washer door open until the drum is dry. Plus there are cleaning and disinfecting instructions in the manuals that are simple to help keep the set in tip top performing shape. The sleek design, load sensing, steam capabilities, and high efficiency are worth the price. We waited for a sale and saved a bundle. We love Sears family and friends too!
...

I don't understand all the negative reviews...maybe I am just easy to please, but this machine is great! The controls are so easy to use - I don't see pressing a power button to be such a huge inconvenience as some other reviewers. There are lots of features so you can completely customize how you want your laundry washed. I have a newborn daughter, and it has gotten all of her laundry completely clean, which is simply amazing to me, since I don't have to pre-treat anything. She has very sensitive skin, so the fewer chemicals that I use in her laundry, the better. In our old washer, we had to pretreat everything and even then, the baby stains didn't come out. It is so quiet, you barely even know it is on.

I was very skeptical after reading reviews and thought maybe I should have purchased another brand, but I am completely happy with this washer!
...

Bought the Samsung WF448AA in December 2008, from a Sears Outlet. The experience has been very good so far, with no repairs. The pros are the capacity, steam cycle and easy to use features. The cons are it does get a bit noisy when you put in larger loads and it has to continuely adjust the weight, also the dispensor feels a little cheap when opening and closing. The doors are a little flimsy, so do not put to much weight on them or else they will bend and the sensor will detect the door as open, and will not run your load. Otherwise this has been the best washer we have had to date. Last washer was a toploader Whirlpool that lasted 20 years, but was very noisy and always off balance.
...

Purchased this along with matching dryer for our new home about 9 months ago. The first words out of all my friends' mouths is "Wow! That's HUGE!" Its true, it really does have a super large capacity. I love the front loading, as its way easier on the back when taking damp clothes out, versus leaning over and digging that last little sock out from the other types!

This type of washer certainly takes more time than others. But I think the overall time is "made up" with the short dry time, as this washer does a great job of spinning most of the load's moisture out.

One thing I've heard from our home's builder is that this type of washer is not recommended for the second story of a house as it creates a lot of movement. Ours is on the bottom floor, so no problems here, but you might want to check that out before purchasing.
...

We purchased our set from Sears with a manufacturing date of 01.31.10.

I was a bit nervous about selecting these machines to purchase after reading a few complaints (overall, there weren't too many) about clothes not being cleaned, an occasional mechanics problem requiring resolution, noise, etc. and had decided the machines were either 'love it' or 'hate it.' I took the plunge anyhow and am so thrilled I did!

After owning the machines for a brief time, I can proclaim I'm definitely in the 'LOVE IT!' camp! Further, without wishing to offend anyone, I will even imply people who are in the 'hate it!' camp 1) perhaps have not read their instruction manuals thoroughly so they know how to properly use and care for their machines as well as understand their limitations, or 2) perhaps aren't using the machines properly. There seem to be some service / part replacement complaints from people, but those seem centered around models with earlier manufacturing dates than the set we own.

I...

...

Bought the washer/dryer set and the washer has been a real pain from day 1. Had to have a service call on it right after we purchased it. It was something minor and I don't even remember what it was for. Then when it was about 3 months old it became noisey when in the drain mode. I called for service and the service rep said that all front loaders make that loud vibrating noise. My laundry room is on the second floor of my house and I told him that it was so noisey that it disrupted watching TV downstairs and it didn't do that when new. My floor is re-enforced and I can't even hear the spin cycle but he insisted that this was a normal noise. Now the thing won't drain at all. At least it's not noisey. I had to drain the water out of the bottom manually to get the door to open so the clothes could be removed. What a pain.

Other things I don't care for is that if you want to have an extra rinse, change the speed of the spin, water temp or anything that's not programmed into...
...

We bought the SamSung VRT Steam washer and dryer combo last fall. It took a little getting used to the longer cycles and front loading, but what a wonderful machine!! If you have really soiled clothing or bedding... or just need your items santized, then this is the machine for you!! I've never seen my clothes come out so clean!! There isn't anything this machine can't whiten or brighten with the steam technology. And if you don't have time for the longer steam cycle, the you'll be thoroughly impressed with the silver care which does a wonderful job cleaning clothes with colder temps. The dryer is also nice because it has a good wrinkle prevent cycle which is truly wonderful. Two tips.. make sure you use fabric softener as the clothes spin so fast they come out like boards if you don't soften them and be sure to leave the washer door open for a few hours after each load to make sure the drum dries well. If you don't follow this simple rule, eventually you'll get a moldy...
...

I finally purchased this Samsung Washer and Dryer pair after reading review after review and many blogs also. I will try to make this brief. About 4 yrs ago I purchased the top of the line front load Kenmore washer and dryer with pedastals without questioning the quality. Boy did I make a mistake. The dryer did work fine but had to replacce the control unit one time in the 3 yrs but under extended warranty. Thank god for purchasing that. The washer made so much noise that it actually sounded like a helicopter was taking off througout the house, and vibrated so bad that things would actually fall off the shelves. I had Sears @ my home 9 times in 3 years and finally they agreed that something was wrong and give me partial credit for the Washer itself not pedastal nor dryer . But Thanks Sears for doing the right thing!!!

Pros: After all the reviews on this machine I did finally purchase the Samsung and wow , the VRT(Variable Reduction Technology) takes the clothes and evens them...
...

Kruz says "Expensive but very easy to use and quiet." about Samsung 3.9 cu. ft. Front-Load Steam Washing Machine (WF448AAP)

I am a big fan of the dryer's "refresh" cycle as it works great for polos, golf shirts, dress slacks, etc. It not only cleans them but it also removes wrinkles well.

While the operation of the machines is very quiet there are some new sounds to expect. The spin cycle is extremely fast and emits a brief and high pitched "whir". The water being forced out of the cycle and down the drain does make a little extra noice because of the increased speed.

I read the manual (1st time for everything) and the detergent dispenser still baffles me. While liquid HE detergent will dump right into the drum if you overfill it, I was under the assumption one would fill the reservoir once a week and the machine would auto-dispense accordingly. Well, the reservoir is not that big and I find myself filling the reservoir more than I thought I would. Not a big deal, but not exactly what I thought it would entail.

We came from 11 year old Kenmore top loaders and this pair almost makes laundry...
...

myaccount101 says "I really HATE this washing machine!" about Samsung 3.9 cu. ft. Front-Load Steam Washing Machine (WF448AAP)

I really hate this machine. I have had this machine for about 9 months now. I dread doing laundry because I am afraid of what this washing machine will do to my clothes. The detergent tray is poorly designed. The liquid soap goes in right away. If you are not careful when closing the tray, the bleach and fabric softener will go into the clothes even before the cycle starts. The water doesn't seem to come out hot, even on the hottest settings. When the water is filling it all comes right down the door and into the drain.

Stains do not come out in the washer. I pretreat EVERYTHING and use hot water and still have stains from simple things that I never even pretreated before. I have tried several different detergents and methods, but this washer just doesn't clean very well.

Lint is all over everything! I have never had such massive lint problems. I have cleaned the filter, yet still have problems. I have some shirts I have had for 10 years and have never had a...
...

mrgerber1 says "Cleans OK but controls are problematic and manual is lacking" about Samsung 3.9 cu. ft. Front-Load Steam Washing Machine (WF448AAP)

After six months of use, this washer and its companion dryer work OK; however, I would not buy them again because the controls on both the washer and dryer are poorly designed and difficult to use and the manual is of little help.

For example, the manual says that the "pause" button can be pressed after the washer has started, and when the display indicates more clothes can be added, the door can be opened. That seemed to work fine until I added clothes (a couple of minutes after starting the machine) that were too delicate for the sterilize cycle underway, so I changed the cycle to normal before un-pausing to continue washing. The manual makes no mention of any restrictions when the washer is paused, and the controls allowed the change to normal cycle, but when the machine was un-paused, it drained out all the soapy water and proceeded to wash the clothes with most of the soap drained out!

One other complaint is the chemical smell that constantly builds up in our laundry room after running...
...

mdlevy says "This machine and the matching dryer are an absolute joy to use." about Samsung 3.9 cu. ft. Front-Load Steam Washing Machine (WF448AAP)

This is the greatest appliance I have ever used. I think of it as the iPhone of washing machines - it is elegant, efficient, seamless to operate and is exceptionally powerful. I can't say enough good about this machine and the matching dryer.

Our laundry area is very near the kitchen and family room of our house so noise is a big concern. These are nearly silent - we actually enjoy the end of cycle chimes (remind us of old video game tunes).

That said, be sure to account for the extra space needed off the back to connect the Y adapter for the steam dryer. That added 2 inches to the back in our very tight laundry area that nearly derailed the entire installation. Also, the professional installation team didn't really know how to connect this or the dryer very well - I ended up redoing it all myself.
...
