“Samsung washer front loader Model wf448aaw is fantastic - quiet”
Samsung washer front loader Model wf448aaw/xaa with pedestal is a great machine. My wife is so happy. We had been using a Kenmore series 70 heavy duty top loader for over 25 years and it died (two other successful repairs during those years). So we were stuck in our ways and hoping to find a new washer with the same kind of life. The first thing that made us chose the new Samsung is that the price of the extended warranty is cheaper by $100 bucks than the Kenmore He5t (almost all the same features). The pricing of the 5 yr warranty speaks well about the expected reliability of the Samsung. Also in reading reviews of other models I found comments regarding accidental pocket change causing damage to the drain pumps of other models. This Samsung 448 has an easy to clean pump screen which is supposed to catch items like coins before they damage the pump. We have our laundry in the basement so I was not to concerned about vibration (our old toploader shook a lot anyway without bothering us). But I can not believe how fast the 448 spins the cloths without making hardly a sound. As the drum full of cloths is accelerating the spin speed, it occasionaly starts a bit of vibration. As soon as it gets a spinning a bit more quickly (or slowly on the way down), the vibration dissappears.
Ours is on a pedestal and I like the idea of it being higher and getting some drawer space in the pedestal. But the Samsung pedestal we got can not hold a 100 ounce bottle of tide (HE) without laying the bottle down. (better keep that lid on tight) The Kenmore pedestals were a little taller and had a laundry basket 'shelf' which would be helpful. (I don't know if you can use the Kenmore pedestal on a Samsung).
I would be so proud if this were made in the USA but nothing is :-(
