No sales pitch when activating Sears Charge Card

Sears - James F. Falls —

When activating a new Sears Charge/Credit card I was presented with what seemed like a minute and a half or more sales pitch for idenity theft protection for $12.?? a month. I had called to activate my credit card not have my arm twisted to but something I did not want. After telling the person I was not interested in the plan, I was asked if I had a identify theft protection plan in effect to which I responded, "No". I was then talked to like I was not very smart to turn down this offer when I could cancel it in 30 days if I did not like it.

In an aggravated tone I infromed the person that I had called to activate my card not to listen to a sales pitch. To which she responded that she would show that I declined the offer and the call was ended. I hate this kind of tactic where you are instructed to call for one purpose and then they try to sell you something or try to sell you something more than what the call was about.  This behavior leaves a bad taste in my mouth for dealing what ever company pulls this aggrevating stunt.
