Too bad the warranty service takes so long....

Sears Riding Lawn Tractor —

After less than a year, my lawn tractor broke.  I realized it was under full warranty as I had it less than one year, so I called the 800 number listed in the warranty section and told the man exactly what was the matter.  He scheduled a man to come out to the house almost two weeks later and said I'd get a call ahead of time with more of the specifics about the visit.  The call came about one hour before the repairman arrived.  When he arrived, he asked what the problem was, and I told him (for some reason, I thought he would know what I told the scheduler.)  He explained he had one of the two parts needed; would I like a partial fix of the tractor.  I explained that would not work for me as I wanted it to be fully fixed under warranty.  He then rescheduled the appointment for one week later--I was left with the impression he would bring the part with him at that time.  This past Sunday, Sears left a message and asked me to call, it was about my appointment this past Tuesday. When I called, the Sears representative asked if my part had arrived yet.  I was confused as I thought the repairman was bringing the part.  No, I was told, it was shipped to me on June 11th, had it arrived?  Nope, I explained, so the appointment was cancelled, and I was told to call the 800 number again when the parts arrived.  At this point, I expressed my displeasure at this whole, long ordeal and was told the rescheduled appointment would be expedited when I called.  Today, Tuesday, the parts arrived.  I called tonight and was told the earliest appointment would be the Friday after this--almost one month to the day after making the first call.  So much for an expedited rescheduled appointment (this week would have been fine.) Again I expressed my displeasure at the protracted length of this situation and was told that was the best they could do.  It wouldn't be so bad if I was not disabled and could mow my property another way. Last year I was so happy to get a new Sears lawn tractor, at this moment I am much less so.

Hello Shayne and Brian J.--I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your prompt response to my lawn tractor problem. The repairman was right out and fixed it--and now the grass is back in shape. Thank you Sears! I would definitely continue to do business with you in the future.

To Red44,

My name is Brian and I work for the Sears Cares escalations team and I am very sorry about the extended time it has taken to get this service issue resolved. The tech should have come to your home to verify the diagnosis for the part(s) needed. This should have been handled much more efficiently. I would certainly like to talk with you more in detail about this issue. If you would like, you can contact me at searscares@searshc.com so that we can discuss this. At your convenience please send me an email. Please provide a contact phone number and the phone number the tractor was purchased under (if different than the contact phone number) and I will call you directly. In addition, please provide the screen name (Red44) for reference to this issue and I do look forward to talking to you soon.

Thank you,

Brian J.
