“Cheap Fishing Pole”

Shakespeare Scooby Doo Fishing Kit — 

This pole is so cheap, the line ran out after about 10 ft. of casting into the water. Then when the line caught & we had to break it, there wasn't enough line left to do any more casting with. Also the line kept getting caught in the reel and we finally just ended up putting a washer on the end and letting my son cast out in our yard at home to get practice. All in all, this pole was not meant for actual fishing!

I am sorry to hear about your experience with the Scooby Doo fishing combo. These character combos are meant for young children, to introduce them to the basics of fishing. We will go back and look at the line issue and see what we can do to improve on the functionality of the product. In the spring we will begin to carry Amphibian Youth Combos from Shakespaere. These items will retail for $19.99 and are meant for older children through teenagers. They will have features such as: Split grip, ball bearing reel, and cork handle. I encourage you to try this for your son.
