LockedTone While Walking

posted on November 11, 2009 at 12:10PM Inappropriate?

I saw a commercial on TV yesterday for shoes that tone your hips and thighs while you walk. I was able to find them on the Sears site! I was wondering if anyone had tried these shoes, and if so - what did you think?

What commercial did you see?  I have seen a couple different brands.  I really think I'm going to get a pair of Skechers Shape-ups to wear when I walk my dogs.  Might as well tone while moving through my daily routine!

I've seen them but they just look kind of "off" and clunky to me so I probably won't get them.  I am curious about how they feel and work though.

Are these the shoes that look like in-line skates, but they are not?

No, I'm not sure they make those for adults.  Here is an example of the 'toning' shoes:

SHC REbecca I am not talking about "heelies" skate shoes. I am talking about shoes with a sole more narrow than the upper. looks unusual.

I am going to the link you sent. Thank you for the link.

Funny comment SearsisGr8!

We have several different brands/types of toning shoes now;

1) Skechers Shape Ups

2) Dr. Scholl's Fitnes Walkers

3) LA Gear Walk N Tone

Both the Skecher and the Dr. Scholl's have the 'rocker' bottom while the LA Gear have 'Pods' on the bottom.  I own a pair of the Dr. Scholl's and really like them.

Not true at all   Sketchers shape up shoes are rather comparable to MBT (Masai Barefoot Technology) this concept has been around for quite some time now and in the runners world  its big.   Most companies have a shoe based of this concept  each using their own method   the shape up and MBT use a heel toe transverse  to naturally change you gait  up to 10 degrees reducing knee ankle and hip strain  they accomplish this by intentionally unbalancing you  training and strengthening your core a stronger core helps maintain and build the rest

other companies have a similar concept  but different method  Nike for instance has the Nike Free and Barefoot concept running shoe instead of unbalancing they opped to mimic barefoot movement

u can find a decent article comparing the Shape-ups to the MBTs at the Walkerswharehouse blog
