LockedUltimate Deciding Factor in a Shoe Purchase

What is the ultimate deciding factor in a shoe purchase?  If you had to pick one thing out of all the factors that feed into this decision, what would it be?

For day to day shoes, it would have to be comfort.

But, for going out shoes, how they look!  I don't care as much about how comfortable they are if it they are just to be worn for a couple of hours.

Mine have to be comfortable, especially width wide toes.

This normally prevents me from remote ordering footwear.

But, it does assure my shopping in person, with virtually zero returns.

Fashion Trend Right Shoes that are comfortable to wear all day is what I look for.

Good question!  I first go by how they look and then they have to be comfortable.  And, I'm not going to lie, if there is a good price on something I may buy it even its not that comfortable.

For me it is the quality of the workmanship compared to the price of the shoe.  Especially for a leather upper/leather lined shoe.

Comfort and price for me. I got a great pair of Covington shoes from the Sears clearance section in the store for $10  I think the original price was $40. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn :)

I'd really have to say the "fit" of the shoe.

It doesn't make sense, to me, to take all the time to break-in the leather, if there are callouses forming on the back of my heals or sides of my toes.

I look at the reviews for the shoe -- I do a lot of research online before I purchase any type of sneaker.  Why?  Because I'm into getting fit, and have started doing some running so I know I have to pay for quality.  For example, my last pair of Asics I spent $129 on -- and they are well worth it.

Now when it comes to casual shoes, or something I might wear with jeans around town -- it comes down to how fashionable/trendy/cool they are.  I've bought way too many shoes just because they look "cool" :)

If I run, I end up falling down (bad knee).

However, I do look for good construction, the ability to have long term maintenance done on the footwear and wearing comfort is a really big deal for me.

What good is having a nice-looking pair of footwear, that ends up making your feet sore?

The shoes absolutely MUST be stocked in my KMart store or one I can drive to. I will never buy shoes anywhere else again. KMart quality boots have helped me stay out of leg braces, and take fewer falls per day than any shoe prescribed for me, and my life is better because of KMart shoes.

I also like footwear that is resoleable.

It just doesn't make sense for me to "break-in" leather and then have to toss a pair of shoes, because of worn soles.

AdamO - I hope you have a good shoe repair man!  If you keep your shoes long enough to need a new sole, you might consider buying two pairs of the same boots and then rotate them.  That way you don't put all the wear and tear on one pair.

That's right! And it's easy when KMart has those BOGO 50% off 2nd pair promos all the time!

For me I look first at style and price. That just narrows it down for me, and after that I'll try them on. I won't even try on shoes that are too expensive or don't fit my style and then my final decision comes down to how comfortable they are.

Hey I have been wearing flats for a few minutes each day. I got out of leg braces by switching braces to boots for a few minutes each day. I don't know if I will ever be able to wear them, but I want your input on some flats that you all like.
