I purchased this Snapper lawn mower based on brand reputation, but even more because of the positive reviews on this site. THIS IS THE WORST LAWN MOWER I HAVE EVER OWNED. DON'T BUY ONE!!

It has been in for warranty service at least four times. The crank shaft also bent once and I have no idea what I hit with the mower. Now, my warranty is up and the next time it breaks down, I will probably just have to haul it to the junk yard. It has had problems with not starting and overheating. I missed most of all the mowing seasons I had because it was in the shop.

The mower also clogs and kills easy when in mulching mode.

I've had this snapper key start for almost a year. Every time it rubbed the fence whell caps-cover fell off. Ended up thowing in trash box.It started great, but seemed like the rope would bind when handle was lifted out of fold down poss. Now hit a lot stake and bam crank shaft is bent told mower is trash by Sears sales man.If crank is bent he said its the same as blown up.You got to be kidding me ..He said no. My last snapper lasted over 35 years and did not cost 500.00 as this one was sold by sears for. I had a old honda mower that I broght from other house hit same stake and all it did was go thump. Wish I had not gave it away.Checked google found alot of 6.75's with same craftsman,snapper,john deer ,toro etc... shame that a wreak part is costing us so much money and more waste for mother earth.I've wrote Snapper will try to post a follow up if I get any info worth posting.Would buy if it came with differnt motor maker

I think most of the high reviews are from folks that just bought the mower. I've had this one now for three seasons. I have a small lawn. Maybe I was spoiled by my previous Honda powered Toro self propelled. It lasted 25 yrs.

PROs: Height adjustment is very nice.

Starts up 1st pull every time.

Durable for the price

CONs: Drive system is weak it tends to slip as bag fills

Mower is somewhat underpowered - Big Red 6.7 print is not HP - Misleading

Wheel caps fell off

Can not cut close to a wall or fence due to wheels extending outward

I called Snapper to discuss issies with the mower. First thing they said was "that it is a Sears mower". So it seems that Snapper sold thier soul to the Devil like companies do for Depot and ***** - Cheaper product for distribution.

I Bought this mower on- line because of snapper name and sale price. I struggled with a "self propelled" Toro Recycler for a few years before buying the snapper and I am glad I did. It starts on first pull, the variable speed work well, height adj easy it is quiet and a pleasure to operate my lawn looks better with less effort. I recommend this mower to anyone looking to make their life easier

This is a really good mower, however there is one annoyance. The drive propulsion system requires that the mower roll forward a bit after you release the drive lever or you will have one heck of a time pull it backwards.

Basically if you mow like I do you often go forwards, then backwards. At first I was very upset as often it would not let me pull it backwards even though I had release the drive forward lever. Eventually I realized that if I release the drive lever a bit sooner and allow the mower to roll to a stop I can pull the mower backwards with ease.

Still I feel this is a design flaw so I can only give 4 stars.

As for mowing and bagging and starting on the first pull this mower is awesome.

Bought this a few weeks ago. Only used it once so far, but so far so good.

I am coming from using a cordless battery powered mower from Black and Decker. I really enjoyed the quietness and "greenness" of that unit, as well as not needing to fill the gas tank or change the oil or spark plugs. But, with my little over 1/3 acre lawn and the hill on my property, pushing that thing around was a burden, and the charge would dimish over time so I would get lackluster cuts. Also had to cut often since tall grass would wear the battery out more quickly.

This unit isn't winning any green earth awards, but the self-propelled part is a real winner for me, and with the power of the gas mower I am getting good crisp cuts all over the lawn.

So far I recommend it. A good engine and a good mower overall. I used the mulching feature, so I basically threw the bag away as soon as I bought it. Who wants to bag grass?

my stepdad uses this atleast once a week to mow the lawn at my sisters, grandmas, his mothers, and our house! if something goes wrong it is very easy to change parts. it is very rare that something does go wrong with it!! very light and easy to use!

We purchased this mower last spring. I am a 60 year old lady who is the primary user of this mower. In reading the reviews, I read of the person who had trouble pulling this mower backward. What I found is that if you let go of the self propel handle while you are going forward one or two feet before you stop, you can then pull the mower backward and cut easily. WHILE THIS MOWER IS VERY HEAVY, IT IS MY HOPE THAT BECAUSE IT IS HEAVY, IT WILL LAST A LONG TIME--I BELIEVE BECAUSE IT IS HEAVY HELPS IT CUT SO EVENLY....

Bought this to replace a Toro Super Recycler.

I think this does a much better job at mulching.

It also has more power in the drive to get up my small hill.

I am quite happy with it.

My yard is pretty good sized with a hill in the front and back. I thought I would get a self propelled mower, but was concerned about the speed of it. I have a bad leg and and its difficult to push the mower up hill or across the hill. This variable speed mower was perfect for me. It starts easily, no priming and its actually not loud for a mower. The only way I feel it could be better is if I had bought a riding mower. This mower is great for personal or professional use. I don't bag because I like to mulch so the rear drive was perfect for me. So far I really dont have any dislikes.

I bought this model because my dad has had a similar snapper for over ten years and mows 4 yards. I bought a ninja blade to give it extra mulching power and it's worked great. Easy to start, easy to clean and has the self propel when you need it. A great product....

asslembly was very easy and mows great.. yesterday the engine started to smoke and shake. so we let it sit.. tried again and once again it smoked and this time turned off. so we are not sure what is going on. we checked the oil.. and added more. so other than that it has been an awesome lawn mower! even for a woman! 4 stars!

This is my third review of this mower. I've always found that reviews are only helpful after the customer has had the item for a while, not within days or months after an initial use. I've now had this Snapper mower for over 1 year and am not satisfied with it. I take absolute good care of this mower. I use Texaco premium gas (92 octane) in it, although it only requires 87 octane. I change the oil, air filter and blades periodically also.

Two months after I purchased the mower, I placed it in the shop because it would run for a while then quit. The mower also tended to vibrate a bit much and didn't sit level on a level surface. After I got it back, Sears stated that the carburetor was dirty and it was cleaned. Worked fine for a while and now I am having the same issue again. I had a Honda before this one and never had these issues. The mower is very powerful like others have stated, but what good is power if it's not operating???

I purchase a 6.25 Craftsman rear bag mower. That is all I buy. however, the thing that bugs me currently is the bag. The bag has a slot in the back where grass and dirt accumulate and very frustrating to empty. Especially when you are mowing a very large yard. Why don't you turn the bag inside out. It may eliminate all the accumulation of trash and improve its efficiency.

I bought this Snapper Mower on Wed. and promptly returned it to Sears on Saturday. What a mistake buying that machine was !! I thought that "Snapper" was a decent brand, right there with Toro and JD, was i wrong. I got the mower home, assembled easily, all fluids in. Attempted to raise the deck and found that to be a challange. Having to adj. each wheel independently and making sure the deck was level, which it was not. The mower wld. not sit flat on my garage floor (concrete) one wheel was off the ground slightly. The issue was not my floor. I reluctantly started the mower witht the deck lower than i wanted, but the highest I cld get it to go. It scalped my grass in a number of places. When you try to pull the mach. bkwds. it is extremely diff. because of this metal plated that is attatched behind the deck. ? Most machines have some rubber or plastic piece here. This was metal and acted like a "plow", No adjusting this at all. Mach. is not meant to be pulled bkwds. I guess ?? I mowed...

Had this mower for two years. Still cuts great. Like the large bag.

Don't have to empty so often. Rear wheel drive means no more pushing. Thats a blessing in July.

Cuts well, strong self-propel system that's easy to work around when you want to push it yourself or back up, does a great job mulching, easy to use height aduster, solid construction. Can't speak to bagging since I mulch. All in all a great buy.

I just purchased my Snapper at sears for $339. For the money you cannot beat this mower. It took less than ten minutes to put it together. Filled it with gas, put some oil in it and it fired up on the first pull. I could not find anything I didn't like about it. She has plenty of power, speed, and mulches great. As soon as you put your hands on it you can feel the quality. This is a solid mower. Deffinately a happy Snapper owner.

Pros - Easy set up. Also, as stated by many other reviewers this mower is well constructed. One lever height adjustment is very convenient.

Cons - Mower vibrates so bad the screws in the cover fall out each time I mow. Mower is very hard to start especially on restart after you stop the mower to empty the bag. Self propelled feature can not be adjusted to a speed slow enough to be comfortable for someone with disability.

I purchased the Snapper to replace my 8 year old Troy Bilt. I have had this Snapper mower 1 year and have been able to use it to mow my entire yard less than a dozen times. Mower was at Sears for adjustment for 4 weeks. I have it back and have listed it in local Quik Quarter for sale. I would not buy another Snapper.
