Blower Engine Stalls

posted on January 15, 2010 at 02:26PM Inappropriate? Quote Reply

After starting the blower it runs for about a minute and then stops.  Have emptied tank and checked fuel line and put in fresh gas.  Always starts but still runs not much more than a minute.  Is only five years old and used about three or four times during this periiod.

Could there be a cauberator problem and is so, what?

Have you left gas in the fuel tank for more than 30 days with out a fuel stabilizer? Gas goes bad every 30 days and without running or adding a stabilizer you may have an engine issue. Also check and make sure there is no debris in the line.

You could also have a throttle issue.

Or it could possibly just need a simple tune up... Check back with the owners manual.. to see if there is a trouble shooting issue there.

Does it restart right away? If not, try loosening the gas cap. The breather hole may be plugged, creating a vacuum.

Is the spark plug in good condition?

I also have a ~8 year old Sears snowblower w/ the same problem. Starts right up, runs for a minute or two then abruptly stalls. Have drained/replaced fuel w/ fresh gas, adjusted carb mixture screws per manual, checked spark plug (was OK) but still have problem. Once stalled, it sometimes will re-start and run more before stalling again; or, other times, will not be possible to restart. Could this be a speed governor linkage problem?
