Recently bought a pair of these for a stereo setup in my bedroom. These are about as large as you can get and still fit in the bookshelf category. Mine sit on the floor. I consider these speakers to be at an optimal price point for the quality and performance. I would put them at the low end of the good stuff... a great set of speakers for someone building an entry level stereo or home theatre system. Someone who wants nice clean sound, has a budget- but doesn't want one of the cheaper combo systems where thay package the dvd/amp/speakers all together in one package.

read full review »I got these speakers for my "party room" to fill out the sound a bit. When
listening, they perform admirably at making the sound coming through them
objectionally perceivable by the human ear in a pleasant fashion. They are
visually more of a free standing speakers. I actually do not
even have them on a bookshelf, but rather on the floor. I hope this is okay. I didn't
see in the manual for any safety precautions about doing that. I knew that
eventually I'd have to buy some. I had a gift certificate
a relative gave me to Sears. It was very convenient to order
relatively big speakers online from an in-store...
