Sony Nav U

I purchased for myself in December and love it. I needed something simple to use and this was it. Can't beat the price for text to speech. It is a little slow sometimes picking up signal initially but still a great GPS. Has not gotten me lost. I have since purchased a couple for gifts and they love as... read full review »

Poor Quality

My first unit lasted 1 day before the on/off switch stopped functioning. Returned to Sears for a replacement. The replacement unit, fresh out of the package, has exactly the same problem. These units are not the quality product you would expect from Sony. Sony are NEVER the cheapest product on the store... read full review »

Better than I expected and at a low cost

This is my first GPS but it was money well spent. I do not believe there is another unit with the features of this one even at double the price. I have not needed a GPS before because I am familiar with roads in my area. However, this year I am going on several long distance trips. My first was to Florida from Virginia. I liked that I could set way stations along the way where I intended to stop. Another useful feature is than on interstates the GPS displays the correct lanes in which to be. In towns and cities, the GPS announces the name of the street at which to turn. The GPS got me to where... read full review »

3 stars

I haven't had an opportunity to use my gps except on a short 80 mile trip.It did give me good directions to my destination but, when I got close to my last turn ,I was told to make a U turn when all I had to do was turn left.I also played with it by going a different route and it adapted quickly. One drawback is that it doesn't recognize some addresses that are entered .

Unhappy Valentines day

i bought this GPS for my boyfriend for valentines day. since he is a sales person driving most of the day. it worked fine the first week. but after that it would not give turn by turn directions. then it wouldn't shut off. the screen would freeze up. all of this in the second week of owning it. I would not recommend that anyone buy this product for even one dollar

simple, useful and very user friendly

For the price you can never go wrong with this one. This is a straightforward nav system. It may not have some features that the other brands/models offer which for me is even better because I found those useless anyway and may just cause operation a little more difficult. This one got everything I need like saving destinations for future use, decent size screen and could recalculate route fast. This is a very good deal so buy it.

Sony NV-U44 GPS

Overall, I am very happy with this unit. I did wonder though when I first got it. As I was crossing a major bridge over the Ohio river it advised me to stop ahead at the toll station. Good info except that the toll Station was removed more than 30 years ago! Other than this initial bit of bad info the system has been very accurate and the instructions clear and easy to follow. The 3D view for on/off ramps etc. is very nice as it shows you which lane to be in. Recently used it on a 1500 mile trip and it was perfect. Nice size and the screen automatically dims for night use. I also like the way it... read full review »

Great Price, Great Unit

Easy to use and set up. It finds satellite connection quickly upon start up. The screen size is not too small. Every thing is easy to read/see. The GPS took us on a longer route to our destinations a couple of times but it was always less than a mile and it always got us where we needed to go so it did not bother me any.

worked for less than a month

I got this fairly cheap and I loved it. After a week it was hard to turn on/off _ I had to apply a lot of pressure. After a month the on/off switch no longer worked. I could only turn it on or off by plugging it in. I have sent it in for warranty repair but I had to pay for postage. I wish it had worked longer or Sony had paid for postage.

Excellent touch screen GPS

I bought this at an amazing price of $79.99 at Sears and it's excellent. I pulled it right out of the box when I got back to my car, plugged it in, and it was ready to use. Very intuitive touch screen menu's, and the directions are 99% accurate. The traffic view is also great and has saved me a ton of time.

Love It!!!

For those looking for a simple to use GPS this is the best you will get. It is very slim and beautiful. The pictures and the screen looks great and the addresses are very accurate. I love the choices to add extra stops on your trip without having to start all over again. The PC software doesn't give you lots of choices but you can check if the maps are updated and some basic settings. The touch screen works great. Voice prompts are clear and accurate. Also the split view is awesome, allowing you to make the correct turn in runabouts with several turns or exits that are too close to each other.... read full review »

Great Entry Level Unit

Brought it for my wife. She loves it. It's a good size screen, quick and easy set-up, text to speech feature which is rare on an entry level unit, great price, and it does it's job. It gets confused a little bit at times and some of the maps are bit dated, but it's no deal breaker. I might get one for myself. Recommended.

Great Unit

I purchased this unit after reading the great reviews - and was not disappointed. Split screen is helpful, as are the turn by turn directions which include street names. I really like the feature of bringing up places of interest - which helped me when I had car trouble and needed to find the closest car dealership. Great price as well!

This GPS lacked the most important thing

I bought this gps a few weeks ago.I had read the reviews on it, but I still wanted to give it a try. After receiving it at sears, I installed it in my car and I noticed it could not find some of the stores in the same plaza I was in. I updated it later, and I got some more listings on the gps, that I previously could not get, but still there were places that I needed to go to that the gps could not find. I really liked the features of the gps, and I really hated to have to return it to sears, but the gps was not getting the job done for me. Sears did stand by the product that they sold to me, and... read full review »

Inexpensive quality

This Unit does a god job on the road, has saved my behind a couple of times. It does have the tendency to send you up the wrong way on a one way street, or send you the short route which winds up being grid locked traffic but, it does have the shortest and quickest route feature. It has plenty of maps pre loaded in it's memory.... enough so that when you are typing in an address it can auto complete it..... Not the best unit for off roading though. All in all We liked it so much and the price was right that we bought 2 of them for each car.
