The PS3=gaming monster K-Mart = Hidden Treasures

Sony PLAYSTATION3 Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle —

First of all let me say that I am the definition of "casual" gamer. I have so little time to pick up a controller that it's almost not worth the hassle of me buying any system. Well...at least that's what I thought. I was walking through my local K-Mart doing some shopping when I happened to wander back to the electronics section. Behold, the great white box! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I turned to the associate and pointed to the MGS4 bundle and jokingly asked if it was real. "Yes, sir." He replied. I realized I didn't have enough in my checking at the moment to blast it for $500 and lamented the fact that it would be gone before I could get home and transfer money from my savings. "Wait a minute...you guys have layaway!" "Yes, sir, we most certainly do." "Well...grab that thing and let's go back to layaway!" This bundle nets you an 80GB system, 4 USB ports, a couple card reader ports, and backwards compatibility of ALL PS1 games and around 80% of PS2 games. A wireless rechargeable DualShock3 controller (classic Playstation shape...the best in console gaming history) and Metal Gear Solid 4...which is an incredible game. This system also comes with a free download of a game...I think called "Pain". I have yet to try it. The interface of the PS3 seems very "grown up" compared to the bubbly "poppiness" of other consoles. The PS3's controller-typing interface is very cell-phone-esque...sporting predictive text that takes only a few minutes to truly get the hang of. The unit itself is reminiscent of a sports car. Very sleek...very smooth...very very shiny. I call the paint color, Dusty Bodyoil Black...because that's what you're going to see all of the time if you handle it often or keep it out in the open. I have noticed that this console is WHISPER quiet and icy cool to the touch. I had read somewhere that the console runs hot and loud...but that has not been my experience at all. A DVD that I recorded myself on my computer full of DivX format episodes of a certain snarky doctor's show. WOW WOW WOW. The upconverting qualities of this system are simply incredible for watching regular old boring DVDs. I have now become a little bit more than a casual gamer. I have an Xbox 360 as well and the PS3 is, quite simply, the superior console. The game list is a little anemic for the time being, however, developers are starting to learn that multi-console releases can be "opened up" on the PS3, having extra content and enhanced graphics. The Playstation 3 exclusive titles are simply on the top of the gaming world. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is one such game that will truly show what the PS3 is capable of. If you're trying to decide between the "Big 3" that are currently available then I would definitely recommend the PS3. With its technology it will easily outlast its closest competitors' next system, if not their next TWO generations of systems. Two huge thumbs up for this item.
