Swisher 10 Ton Hydraulic Manual Log Splitter —
I have had this unit for 2 years now. Previously I have had 2 electric 6-ton splitters. The electric (not craftsman) were fast until the seals wore out. I got replacement main unit as the gaskets cannot be replaced. they wore out too. The 10-ton manual handles larger (width) and gnarlier (knotty, twisted) much better, but much slower. Being manual I only do about a face cord at a time. I have done about 20 cord over 2 years including oak, cherry (gnarly), locust, hard maple and others. For ease of handling the machine (moving from garage to staging area, etc) and ability to handle tougher logs, relative to price of the machine, I would recommend the 10 - ton manual sears splitter.
