Locked55" phillips issue

posted on February 03, 2010 at 09:53PM Inappropriate?

I have a Phillips 55" (diagonal) projection screen i think, it has the three different color bulbs in it, I got it from sears about 5 years ago, and the screen has been acting up. Just on the lower left and upper left corner, it looks like the bulbs aren't lineing up kinda like 3d almost. Can the bulbs be replaced? Does that sound like it would fix it? Or is the TV just junk at this point? I was able to go into one of the settings and adjust it one time, but now it won't adjust.

It will probably either be the bulbs, the color wheel or the light engine. All of those three pieces can be replaced though I personally would not, Rear Projection tvs are not worth saving.

Because of picture quality or because it will probably have more problems? Do you know about how much the bulbs, color wheel or light engine is?

because it will have more problems, generally bulbs are at least $200, same for light engines. Not sure how much color wheels are.

i also have a phillips 55, mine (also about 5 yrs.) will come on, play for about 30-45 seconds, then go black. sound continues and the red lite in the tv on indicator comes on. my question, is this most likly the same type problem?

Yup it sounds like your light engine has failed.
