LockedVizio vs Panasonic lcd

Is Vizio equal or better than Panasonic?

Sears ran an ad for a Panasonic LCD that they had absolutely no stock on.  Then tried to satisfy their IN STOCK PROMISE by steering me to a vizio same size and resolution. They claim that satisfies their PROMISE to have stock or offer an equal or better item. Who thinks, or can prove that Vizio is equal to or better than Panasonic?

Don't take it.  Panasonic is top of the line, Vizio just isn't.

Samsong would be superior to Panasonic in LCD. That should be their offer. Having said that, I own a Vizio and am quite pleased with it. Panasonic for plasma( although Samsong plasma is undescernable in quality I al;so own a Samsong plasma as do my parents and son). Samsong for LCD. Vizio for price for LCD.

its all good, i got nothing against texas......

I wonder what Panasonic would think if they knew their product was being used to promote their competition by. SEARS  I am sure Panasonic would be thrilled that Sears is substituting  Vizio as a "better than or equal to".  They are side by side in the store, NO COMPARISON. Even the store manager agreed.  But he was "unable" to authorize another substitution

IMHO this is a thinly disguised bait and switch.  Never had inventory on the Panasonic when the ad ran, wont offer anything but the VIZIO at that price.   Seems they won't honor their own substitution policy.

I was once a HUGE sears customer, my very first credit card was a sears card, Was a discover card customer for a long time, had a few bad experiences over the years, stopped buying exclusively from Sears a few years back because of poor customer support when issues arose .........Thought I would try them again based on the TV discussion threads here.

I own Panasonic Plasmas...very nice, very happy, very reliable.

So is Vizio equal to Panasonic?  I would use a Hyundai-BMW analogy.

scale of 1-10  10 being the best.

Panasonic LCD 7 maybe an 8 or better trying to be optimistic

Visio LCD 5

Quality of picture is subjective. Samsong is generally rated as the beter LCD and Pnasoniec is generally rated higher for plasma. Both are equally reliable in manufactuing quality. It has been my experience that Vizio has acceptable quality in both areas for the price. Not sure what point you are making..

My point....I dont feel that Sears should run an ad on a panasonic they have no stock on and substitute a vizio as an "equal to or better than" as stated in their IN STOCK PROMISE.  I dont feel that vizio is equal to or better than.

My Original Post asks if any one else thinks vizio is equal to Panasonic lcd's.

I agree with you quality is subjective, i have seen them side by side.  My asessment....No comparison. I have made picture adjustments to both to give this an honest comparison, still no comparison.

Panasonic has a quality reputation, been a leader in HDTV

Seems that Vizio is still building a brand image

I agree. Vizio in neither a Panasonic or a  Samsong. But it is a good product for the money. If sears advertised a LCD Panasonic, Its equal or better would be the Samsong- not a Vizio.

As I stated in the other thread Panasonic has discontinued all of their 2009 models which means it is Panasonic who is not sending replenishment for those said models to retailers. Visit Best Buys page,

(http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=6043171440702086614&id=pcat17071&type=page&ks=960&st=50%22+panasonic&sc=Global&cp=1&sp=&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1%7E%7Eq3530222070616e61736f6e6963%7E%7Encabcat0100000%23%231%23%234&list=y&usc=All+Categories&nrp=15&iht=n ), ohh surprise they are all out of stock too. While because Panasonic has discontinued the product so it is very limited quantities, if you were looking at national ads all of those had the Panasonic tvs promoted as Closeout items in which case the very very fine print on the ad states Closeout means limited avialability until product no longer lasts. Since it is an inconvience that is why their is a substituion list. If you really want a Panasonic tv you can wait for 2010 models to arrive, or you can tell Panasonic they should continue to make 2009 models forever so limited stock never happens.

Sadly as soon as a new year hits, manufacturers generally stop production on all previous models and tell retailers to make due with what ever left over stock they have from the holidays. Reason being whats the point of spending money on production of out dated models when that same money can be spent on new models. :)

Vizio is an American based tv manf.

Ohh Suprise????  I got the same model same price from BB.  Really painless, really quick, with sales associates that wanted to help.  The exact opposite of what SEARS did.

I am not saying that BB is always great, i have had experiences with best buy that were not great.

But, yeah I understand SEARS had no stock on an item they advertised. They had no "disclaimer" or limited inventory or closeout expectation set in their ad.

To quote their salesperson, "Marketing does that all the time".  I wasted 3 store visits and several calls to customer service during a week of trying to get SEARS to satisfy their own "In Stock Promise".

After it was obvious that SEARS could not find a reasonable solution, I checked BB and they had the same "Panasonic" model, in stock, bought online and picked up in store for the same price SEARS was advertising.  Total time to buy from BB was less than 90 mins.

I wasted and estimated 4-5 hours to try to buy the item SEARS advertised or an "Equal to or better than" item as SEARS states in their "In stock promise".  I just wasted another 10 mins, reread the entire ad, no reference to "CLOSEOUT" or "Limited availability".

IMHO SEARS could have made a delighted customer, but they chose to allow poor processes, poor policies, and poor customer service to create a customer that WILL NEVER, EVER CONSIDER buying from SEARS again.

Over my lifetime I probably have bought $10,000 worth of merchandise, + more from K-Mart and SEARS Hardware stores.  They will never get a cent from me again, EVER.

I agree with your replies but please start spelling Samsung correctly! it is SAMSUNG and not Samsong.
