Although it's been a year since I read Ken Follet's epic novel, I vividly remember its characters, and settings.  Tom Builder and how a cathedral is built are two major elements of this book.  I enjoyed how women are potrayed too.  They are all strong, admirable people in unique ways.  Historical fiction is a great genre because I appreciate the history lessons as well as a compelling story.

Pillars of the Earth is a great read.  I had a hard time putting this book down.  The characters are captivating, and the author amazed me at how he was able to make them so relatable, due to the expanse of generations and centuries.
