LockedSmuggling tools into the house ...;)

posted on September 03, 2009 at 07:01PM Inappropriate?

My wife forbade me from going to Sears to look at (meaning 'buy') tools last year. Since then I've still been able to smuggle a Craftsman jigsaw and a Craftsman drill press into the house. It was far more difficult to hide the new Craftsman bandsaw. I was able to get it inside the house undetected, but when the wife walked into my workroom  -- the jig was up!

What do *you* do to persuade your sweetie that tools "just followed me home"?

I have big brown eyes and can be "dumb as a post" at times.

Yaa...

I got the "Bring home a paycheck and not JUST tools" lecture, too.

These aren't "tools".

They're investments!

That is hilarious, Aristophon!

I think I wouldn't mind if my husband brought home the tools, and put them to good use!  Surprising me with things like, fixing a broken deck, redoing some molding in the house, etc...

She's got to go out shopping, eventually.

Just patiently wait and then walk (don't run) it in the house.

Whew! The pressure on me about the bandsaw has let up all of a sudden. May have something to do with the wife wrecking the car yesterday?

They say when little boys grow up and their toys become big boy toys.

Perhaps when you smuggle your Big Boy toys into the house you could smuggle her a Big Girl toy in for her to use. Be sure to ask her what she needs.

There is a difference in needs and wants.

You could always give her a guitar and some lesssons and she could make her own music. You never know, she may be the next star.

The "key" is to keep the workshop lights dim, unless you're actually working in the area.

And...

It saves energy, too.

My new policy is to start cleaning and organizing stuff at home.

I "find" tools that I've done forgotten about, almost every time I poke around the place.

This is BETTER than antiqueing.

I already OWN this stuff.

It's FREE!

And, DANG..., I've gotten some good old tools, that I've forgotten about.

Fortunately, nothing "rusts" in my workshop.

:)

Anybody believe that last one?

But, I DO have an incredibly diversified (like stock) selection of rust-removal tools - both powered and manually operated.

You need to start a "Do tools go to heaven?" thread, AdamO.

I don't know...

Do dogs use tools?

She doesn't smuggle NOTHING into the house.

When she got that Rice Cooker, we ALL celebrated.

Let's all dance around the rice cooker, while the steam shoots out of the top vent holes, waiting for the little "ding".

Can I have brown rice?

It does brown rice!
