LockedWhat are the advantages of buying Craftsman tools?

Hi Everyone! I know Craftsman tools has been a hot topic in the past so I'm curious as to what everyone thinks are the advantages of buying Craftsman tools over other tools. What do you think makes them better than others?

I have heard that from a few people. Besides people abusing them, do you think they are long-lasting and in general, a good brand of tools?

Consistent quality at an affordable price means good value for my money -- in my experience.

So far I've been happy with the power tools I've bought from Sears in the last year.

Other tools brands have been tempting because of their design or certain features compared to Sears tools, but the price was much higher. For example, I bought the Craftsman model 17542 router as opposed to the Porter-Cable routers I liked because the price difference was so great. I'm happy with the Craftsman router, and don't regret the purchase.

If you could recommend one Craftsman tool, what would it be?

Right after WWII my father went to work for Pam American Airlines as a mechanic. He bought a a Craftsman top and bottom tool box and all his tools were Craftsman. He still has the set of tools and box's. He has used the warranty on sockets, ratchets and wrenches and still buys Craftsman tools for everyone..

the stick tools very easy to break a shovel or pick axe so the extra cost is worth it to get it replaced free

My first husband always bought Craftsman Everything just like his dad/grandad. My second husband buys Craftsman....he sqeezes every penny he can out of a dollar and he likes the prices of Craftsman at Sears. We both like Sears...I like being treated great when I'm asking about tools...I like the prices too....also like being able to go to Kmart for some of the stuff.

i've been very happy with all of my craftsman tool purchases, for the price, value, and replacement , i work in hvac, and in 12 yrs went from more expensive drills for example, dewalt, makita,to craftsman, for the price just as good or better!

I have several craftsman hand tools both for the yard and around the house. I am happy for the price i paid, which is relatively competitive in today's market..but mostly that I know and trust sears to replace them when they break no questions asked or needing to present a receipt to get an exchange!

The carrying cases that come with many models of Craftsman Power tools have been  one of many desireable features for me. I've  found the cases to be well made and durable. Just bought the Craftsman Professional Jigsaw 27245 as opposed to a Bosch model at Lowes just because of the availablilty of the case.

I take care of my tools and like the way the cases help me do that.

Craftsman hand tools can be summed up very easily.  Amazing quality for the price and MADE IN THE USA.  They come with an amazing warranty, yes, that many abuse, but Sears still honors it.

Craftsman power tools can also be summer up very easily.  Good quality for the price and made in China.  Come with a one year warranty (two year for Craftsman Pro) and are pretty darn handy around the house.

But if you want serious commercial power tools, go with either Makita or Ridgid.

Craftsman tools are backed by the best warranty around, and are worth every penny. Have not had to use the warranty often because the tools just don't break. Note: this is discussion of hand tools.

Only drawback I've found is the "quick change" drill bits, etc. do not interchange well with other "quick change" systems like Black and Decker (I have the B&D electric screw driver.)

I'd say that as "if you accidentally damage one..." I don't abuse my tools!

I have to admit, I'm the kind of person that when they see Craftsman hand tools at a yard sale or flea market I grab them.  You just can't go wrong.  The few times I've had to return a tool it was not a problem.

By the way, in case some of you don't know, Craftsman also offers the same type of lifetime warranties on their hoses (select ones -- they have a black and red stripe).  You pay a little more for the hose up front, but man it's worth it!  Just take the hose back to any Sears and they give you a new one -- no receipt needed.

They also offer the same guarantee on a few other gardening items -- such as their pattern spray nozzle, etc.

I'll never buy another hose anywhere else -- and why would I need to?  Mine is guaranteed for life!

Yes, I forget that point!  The #1 reason I buy Craftsman hand tools -- Made in the USA.  Our family tries our best to buy only American made goods when we can -- you get the QUALITY that you pay for.

Made in CHINA? Maybe the stuff you are trying to pawn off to unsuspecting consumers at your store are made in china like you stated. But i know craftsman is made in the USA!!!!

Optiplex, the Craftsman hand tools are proudly made in the USA.  But, pretty much all of the Craftsman Power tools are made in China, except for the ones made in Tiawan or Japan.

Makita used to be the unsung hero of power tools by making many of their awesome power tools in America in my former hometown of Buford, GA.  Then they shifted most of their Portable Power Tool production to overseas to cut costs and get around regulations like everybody else.

We just got a replacement battery charger and 2 new batteries today, after returning the charger and a battery that wouldn't charge for us.  This was the third or 4th time to get a new battery since we bought the Craftsman cordless drill/flashlight 6 months ago, but we've never had a problem with service when we bring in a tool for replacement.  Now that we've figured out it was the charger all the time, we may not need to go back to Sears.  But we definitely will.  Who else would treat us so well?  (And now we have THREE batteries!)
