LockedWhich ones made in China?

Does someone have a list, specifically of hand tools / mechanic tools with the Craftsman name that are made in China?  I'm filling out my tool box, and want to be sure that I'm getting the US craftsman tools.

Gearwrench stuff is all made in China. I won't touch the junk!

There is no specific "list" of tools indicating their source of manufacture, but I can give you a few pointers. Most products are required to have their place of origin  clearly posted on the product's packaging. As for Craftsman tools most of the hand tools are still made in the USA while most power tools are made elsewhere. Most of the hand tools are either Danaher Tool Group or Western Forge, both american companies, and, FYI, most of their toolboxes are Waterloo and also american made.

If I look at page 2 of the Craftsman Club sales flyer for February, I see the dogbone wrenches, which I'm pretty sure are made in China.  I see the Universal wrenches with the black oxide finish, which I know are made in China. I see the Elbow wrenches, which I have read here on the forums are made in China.  It would be nice if the country of origin were available online in the description of the product because my nearest Sears is 35 minutes away.  I work full time, so does my wife and we have 2 kids, so the majority of my shopping is done online with Craftsman.com or Sears.com

Its hard to tell. Last time I was in sears there seemd to be more had tools w/ craftsman name and "china" written on them, which is very disappointing!

Just buy an assortment of tools and bang them against the ground repeatedly for several hours. whichever ones break are not born and bred in the US of A.

But then again, you can't go wrong with Craftsman.

Most of the Craftman Pliers are made "Here", cpt'n the mini-pliers.

The Craftsman screwdrivers are made "HERE".

The Craftsman sockets and handles are made "HERE".

The Craftsman standard-finish raised-panel combination, box, open-end, and ignition wrenches are made "HERE".

The Craftsman highly-polished combination, stubby-combination, flare-nut, and deep-offset wrenches are made "HERE".

The Craftsman pry bars are made "HERE".

NONE of the electric tools are made here NO MORE.

The "new" December hand tools are made "Over there", but have a lifetime-warranty.

If in doubt, look for the American Flag on the packaging.

I agree with all of this

Other ones that are definitely made HERE:

Wood chisels

Punches and cold chisels

Hammers

Nut drivers

Pipe wrenches

Bench vises

Tap and die sets/Thread restorer sets

Items that definitely are made ELSEWHERE:

Absolutely anything with a power source (Bench power, portable power, air power, electric power, if it says power, it's not domestic.)

Tape measures (Dominican Republic)

Precision pliers

So sorry.

The tap and die sets have moved offshore.

And, the vises haven't been U.S. sourced for quite some time.

Neither set types of tools are lifetime warranted either.

At one time - not THAT long ago, there were U.S. Made Wilton Vises for sale through the catalog.

And, the taps and dies JUST went overseas.

If you find any of the old packaging sets - you'll have some gen-u-wine U.S. of the Americas made Vermont American OEM tools...

Hmmm...all the tap and dies in my store still say U.S. made, I suppose we don't have any of the new packaging yet.

And 2 out of our 5 floor model vices say U.S.A. but I have no idea how long those have been there compared to how much new stock has arrived and been sold.

You lucky devil!

You gotta dig-deep on the hook at my local store!

Oh! The old thread-pitch gauge is from Germany...

Are the new flex flare-nut wrenches made in the US or China?

WOW How are we going to be able to shop if there is no money to be made here??????? Has anyone ever thought about that or is it just me? Someone up high may want to think about this here soon. If the don't they will be in the unemployment line!

That's why I'd like to know what's made here in the U.S.  I figure that I may have to pay more, and not get as many tools (at the exact instant I want them), but I'll have better quality tools, and I'll help keep some jobs in the good ole' U.S. of A.  I'm willing to sacrifice quantity and variety for quality and support of jobs.  I just wish that manufacturers would make it easier for guys like me and show what's made in the USA for every product they sell online.  I have that posted in the mysears ideas, so I encourage you to vote on it.  I'm not discouraging tool manufacturing elsewhere, because there will always be a market for cheaper tools, but I am encouraging people to buy US when they can.

You know its bad when you see "made in China" on the American Flag.

Unfortunately, since we don't have textile manufacturers in the US anymore, pretty much all American flags are made in China.

Which ones?

Why, the newer ones, apparently.
