Inappropriate?

I just installed a 1/2 hp model 953985 garage door openier. Travel limits adjusted just fine using the wired remote on the wall, but when I used the wireless (car) remote, it went all haywire, and seemd to "dump" the travel adjustments. Now it reverses at the bottom, and runs all the way up against the top of the door rail when I raise it. Travel adjustment seems to have no affect at all. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi blainebo-Welcome to MySears! There are probably a few community members who can help out with that question. Another great resource for home repair or appliance answers is www.managemyhome.com. This is a companion site for Sears.com, and has a few experts who can help, too.

Do the lights blink 10 times when the door has reversed to the top. I am having a similar problem, but my unit is not new (about 3 years old). All of a sudden it will close and reverse when it reaches the bottom. I have tried adjusting the limit controls without any result. It is hit and miss, sometimes it will reverse, sometimes it closes as it should. In my case it doesn't matter if I use the wall control or remote to adjust the limits. The blinking light seems to be a diagnostic code, but the owners manual doesn't mention anything. I don't want to spend a hundred dollars calling out a tech if this means the unit is bagged.

No, I don't get any lights when it reverses at the bottom. I think the light blinking is an indication the safety sensors on the bottom are sensing an obstruction...at least that's what my owner's manual says. Mine is like the limit controls are just not working at all.
