LockedNew Dutch Boy Paint?

posted on October 01, 2009 at 12:42PM Inappropriate?

Supposedly there's a new style of dutch boy paint coming out. It's supposed to have baking soda in it to help cover up the smell/look of smoke stained walls. I've been asked about it recently but haven't heard about it until about 3 days ago. Anyone know where to get it or if it actually works?

Hi H-I-Guy76015,

I'm checking with someone who works in paint to get an answer for you. Stay tuned!

Well I work in the whole H.I. department but just haven't heard anything about it. I'm sure we'll carry it eventually. The last customer who talked to me about it said the commercial said it would be available at Home Depot and Sears, so it was obviously not one of our's. Maybe it was just a Dutch Boy coming soon thing.

Well... just got a response from the buyer. Here's what he said:

The paint you are referring to is the Dutch Boy Refresh Paint. We currently carry this product in the Sears Hardware stores. I have attached a link to Dutch Boy Refresh website where they can look at the features and benefits. I am not aware of this paint covering smoke stain walls, there are primers in the marketplace from Kilz and Zinnser that will do this. http://www.dutchboy.com/refresh

Hope this helps.  If not, let me know.

I think the Shellac-based Primer has the highest sealing potential.

It takes Denatured-alcohol to do the brush and roller clean-up on this stuff, though.

The product is dutchboy refresh as SHC-caseyg stated but its not really baking soda in it.  It has arm and hammer technology in it so that it will absorb some of the smells that might be in the room.  also with a 0 VOC level it dosent smell as bad as some other pants out there (in fact it smells kinda like a latex balloon). but since it has a 0 VOC it only comes in flat, eggshell, and satin.

hope this helps
