LockedRebuilt Ratchets

The 3/4 full returned Craftsman ratchet container has finally been emptied.

Soon the store will have newly rebuilt Craftsman teardrop ratchets, available for exchange.

The really old ratchets, that have no rebuild kits available, have already been moved over to the "recycle" (blast furnace) bin.

The teardrop ratchets can still be rebuilt, using 43424, 43434 and 43444 rebuild kits.

The round-head ratchets can be rebuilt, too.

But, the rebuilding of round-head torque wrenches is more common with the kits.

Lastly, the Thin-Profile ratchets can be rebuilt, at the rate of 3 kits, per occasional shipment.

I rebuilt a round head Craftsman ratchet for a Customer days.

Felt like old times, as the store PMT, back in the warehouse.

Today's rebuilding was done on the Sales floor.

It's not like I don't know how to do it (almost blind-folded).

All I needed was a 43435 rebuild kit, which the cash rep just happened to have.

Just like old times...

Very happy Customer.

Audible-click torque wrenches, that use ratchet rebuild kit type guts, can be rebuilt at many stores, too.

If your ratchet is too old though, the kinds of rebuild kit availability has been severely limited over the last few years.

You'd have to be "lucky" enough to find a store with old inventory.

And, sorry, the old kits are not kept on any sort of electronic inventory control system, for look-ups.

I rebuilt another Customers original round-head ratchet, from his Craftsman 1/4 inch drive socket set.

I have that same type of set in the 3/8 inch drive size.

The Customer was elated and I had some time to remember good times a ratchet rebuilding.

One Customer still had his plastic socket set case.

An "equivalent" ratchet would not have fit in his old set (first one he purchased new).

So, a custom rebuild was called for.

Is my shirt messy?

Maybe, while I'm wearing that little black Gift Advisor apron, they'll let me rebuild some ratchets in the store?

I'm gonna need a few basic rebuild kits, up at the register area to do the floor rebuilding. Mmm... Some 43424's, 43434's, 43444's, 43425's, 43435's, 43445's, to start out with.

The store PMT is being inundated by special warehouse projects and trying to keep his hallways clean - for an up coming inspection.

The rebuilt ratchets will eventually be coming to the register...

The ratchet return bin was down to only one ratchet, the other day.

It was a precious ratchet, however.

A highly-polished Craftsman round-handled teardrop ratchet!

Them things ain't sold new in the stores no more.

Rebuilding that animal will net an otherwise non-direct exchangeable ratchet.

Hopefully, the former owner didn't engrave or hammer on or "with" it.

If they allowed two snap ring pliers to be kept at the Tool Cashier station, I could "gut" the ratchets for the PMT.

But, they aren't on the Cash Register Planogram.

Again, you CAN'T make this stuff up!

Either the Craftsman 6 inch or 8 inch diameter buffing head machine would put a highly-polished finish right back on to exchanged highly-polished ratchets.

I never had a chance to do this, while I was a store ratchet rebuilding PMT.

But, someone finally "returned" a perfectly good buffing machine and I bought it for my home workshop use.

MY ratchets will remain highly-polished.

And, some of my Craftsman Professional wrenches.

A new box of 3/8 inch Craftsman teardrop ratchet rebuild kits (43434) has arrived at the store.

That's something around 30 rebuilt ratchets, these kits can furnish parts for.

There are the:

standard/raised panel handle,

standard/raised panel long handle,

raised panel/ flex-head,

highly-polished round handle,

highly-polished round handle/ stubby,

highly-polished round long/straight handle,

highly-polished round offset handle,

black ergo handle,

ratchets

and the new 3/8 inch drive Craftsman electronic torque wrench.

That there's a "handy" kit!

I "hear" the new PMT is 1000 percent better than the old PMT (me).

LOL!

I've walked down those old, formerly empty, PMT hallways.

That reminds me, I still have some work to do on my When Pigs Fly bolo...
