Is there such a thing as an attachment for a Craftsman Yard Tractor that is capable of efficient snow removal???

There's a front blade, capable of pushing up to 10 inches of material, including snow.

And, there are snow throwers, that are DEFINITE snow removers (50 foot throw).

I have the snow blade, but make sure you really push the snow, i recommende getting the rear wheel weights and tire snow chains.

Depending on the year of your tractor we have many snow attachments in our assortment.

24441 42" snow blade

24838 42" 2 stage snow thrower

24276 snow cab

And, there are weights and chains to help with traction and stability in the snow.

I would recommend going to sears.com to check out each item and see videos of the items in action.

Since you're in a state that gets plenty of snow, DEFINITELY get the weights and chains. You will need them. You may also want to get some tube sand to set on the back of the tractor, too, as Agri-Fab has been notorious for making its wheel weights too light despite years of us hounding them to make them heavier (Agri-Fab is based in the South, so snow is a bit foreign to them).

Not at all. They will fit Craftsman, Poulan and some Husqvarna.

will model #24838 42" 2 stage snow thrower fit on a Cub Cadet model #ltx 1050?

Nope, Cub Cadet is an MTD brand, Craftsman has a different frame.

I have a 42" snow blade attachment - Model # 486.24441. I have reattached it nowe for the Winter and I probably did something wrong although in reviewing the manual I can't determine what. My problem is I can lift the blade using the handle but it won't luck in the up position.  Anyone know what I could have done incorrectly? Also I need to know where I can get a replacement control cable assembly so I can turn the blade.

The locking device is simply a "catch" position on the mounting bracket when the blade is raised, might be obstructed. The cable is listed here, part #49808:
